A source tells the New York Post that the wide receiver is "seriously considering" it.

Burress, who was released from prison last month after serving nearly two years on a gun charge, is part of the NFL free-agent free-for-all that has the rumor mill churning out speculation even more rapidly than usual. Any agreement between the Giants and Burress would have to wait until Friday under recently installed league rules.

Still, they're telling us there's a chance.
Giants co-owner Steve Tisch and quarterback Eli Manning have reportedly phoned the onetime Super Bowl hero and coach Tom Coughlin indicated he'd be willing to sit down with Burress and talk. The New York Daily News says such a meeting could be taking place today, since Burress flew from Florida to New York.

In a post-prison interview, Burress categorized his relationship with Coughlin as "ambivalent, to say the least." He was fined and disciplined repeatedly while under the coach's direction. Considering this, the notion that the receiver would return to his former team was a longshot not so long ago.

"I do love New York," Burress told the Star-Ledger. "My fan base here has been great to me. But it's not just about football; there are just a lot of things that go into it. But after this I'll know a lot more. Without a doubt, without question."
