Report: Boston College fires Al Skinner

al-skinner-fired.JPGBoston College has fired basketball coach Al Skinner, according to a report from the Boston Globe. A press conference is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Globe reports that Boston College will begin its coaching search immediately and has already requested permission to talk to Chris Mooney of Richmond and Steve Donahue of Cornell. Other names being floated are Tommy Amaker of Harvard and Billy Coen of Northeastern.

In 13 seasons with the Eagles, Skinner compiled a 247-165 record and made the NCAA Tournament seven times.
