Former Michigan State basketball hero Mateen Cleaves was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving on Saturday.
Cleaves, the heart and soul of the 2000 NCAA championship team, was taken in by Genesee County police, then released.
Cleaves lawyer, Frank Manley, told the Flint Journal that his client drove because of an emergency involving his son and doesn't promote "any driving that's not considered safe."
The former guard spent six seasons in the NBA and recently joined Fox Sports Detroit as a Pistons analyst.
