ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews made her long-awaited debut on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" last night, performing the cha cha with partner Maks Chmerkovskiy and setting a world record for longest legs on national television.
Admittedly, I'm no dancing expert, but Andrews looked pretty good, but perhaps a little mechanical at times. Dedicated "Dancing With the Stars" blogger Miriam DiNunzio, whose opinion I'll always defer to, writes that she "wowed" the judges. Andrews finished with a score of 20.
We all know with her popularity, all she's going to have to do to hang in this thing is be satisfactory, not outstanding. Mission accomplished for one night.
Also of note, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco overcame his stage fright to turn in an athletic version of the cha cha of with partner Cheryl Burke. He was rewarded with a score of 18 for his efforts.
It will be interesting to see if curious parties (read: not regular viewers) who tuned in last night will stick with the show through the season or if the ratings will lag as time goes on.
