For now, it looks like all of the "is Wade Phillips safe" chatter can be put on hold.
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the Dallas Cowboys have signed the coach to a three-year contract extension that runs through 2012.
The club had an option for next year, and has apparently decided to tack on two years to the end -- perhaps to end some of that lame-duck gossip.
Phillips won the first playoff game of his head-coaching career when Dallas crushed the Philadelphia Eagles, but then saw his team get dismantled by the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.
In three years under Phillips, the Cowboys are 33-15 in the regular season and have won two NFC East titles.
