Paraguay striker Salvador Cabanas shot in the head

Paraguay striker Salvador Cabanas is in serious condition after he was shot in the head during an attack in a bar, according to Mexican authorities.

The 29-year-old goal-scorer was attacked while in the bathroom at a bar in the south of Mexico City.

The early report is that Cabanas is conscious, but has a heart problem doctors are working to rectify.

The Primera División de México side Club America star was expected to be with his national club at the World Cup in South Africa this summer.
