Who is this Kahlil Bell guy?

KahlilBell1.jpgWhen No. 32 broke a 72-yard run for the Bears in the second quarter last night, it's safe to say more than a couple fans had the same reaction.

Who the heck is that?

Bell, who was one of the few bright spots during the loss to Philadelphia, had been a practice player for the Bears before being promoted to the 53-man roster on Friday.

His scamper was the longest by a Bear since a 73-yard run by Neal Anderson in 1989 and the longest first carry for any NFL back since 1995.

Just how unexpected was his four-carry, 81-yard contribution?

The Bears' official site doesn't even have a bio up for him yet.

Some cursory research yields the following on Bell:

- He is 5-foot-11 and weighs 212 pounds.

- Ran a 4.78 40 at the combine.

- Was an undrafted player who was released by Minnesota this summer.

- Led UCLA with 397 yards last season and 795 yards in 2007.

- Rushed for a collegiate-high 195 yards against Stanford.

-Majored in history.

- Lettered in football, basketball and track at California's Marin Catholic High School.

- One of six children.

- Hobbies include video games and dancing.

its Marin Catholic...not Marian......check your typos....

Kahlil was awesome to watch in high school and we're so proud of him for playing on the NFL! loved watching him play last night...Go Kahlil!!!

Bell showed some stuff out there, quickness hitting the hole, and being let go by Min. means nothing, they do not need a RB for sure.
But why did it take so long for the staff to promote Bell? Just like alot of personnel decisions the Bears mgm makes - senseless,

G. Adams for a second?? I talked to a Tampa fan Friday, and he said we got suckered. I would give a 4th for a guy who has underachieved and had 1 sack on the year, but ASngelo has ties to Tampa right? So I guess he owes them something???

Go Bell!

HE IS THE YOUNG MAN WHOM MADE ONE MATT FORTE RUN ALOT HARDER IN THE BALLGAME LAST NIGHT, IF YOU WATCH THE FILM, AFTER BELL'S 72 YARD RUN MATT FORTE STARTED RUNNING LIKE A MAN THAT DID NOT WANT TO SHARE ANY MORE CARRIES WITH KHALIL BELL, BELL WAS GREAT AT UCLA, BUT HE HAS WORKED VERY HARD ON THE BEARS PRACTICE TEAM, AND NOW HE GOT A FAT PAYCHECK LAST NIGHT FOR HIS EFFORT, HARD WORK DOES PAYOFF!

GET WELL GARRETT WOLFE, THAT IS THE REAL REASON KHALIL BELL WAS ACTIVATED, GARRETT HAS A LACERATED KIDNEY, GET WELL YOU HUSKIE!

Wasn't the same OLine blocking for Bell that has been blocking for Forte all year?? Hmmmm. Funny how Forte doesn't ever notice holes like that.

He broke one big run thru a wideopen hole...let's not get carried away. Matt Forte is trying his best out there and has been running hard each game but circumstances and lack of blocking have hurt his running game.

He may be a little hesitant hitting holes if defensive lineman were greeting you in the backfield on multiple running plays I think the naysayers would be hesitant as well.

I AM SO HAPPY FOR HIM!!!!!!!!! KAHLIL BELL WAS AN UN-DRAFTED ROOKIE, AND HE MANAGED TO GET THE LONGEST FIRST RUN BY A ROOKIE SINCE ALAN AMECHE, WHO WAS PICKED 2ND OVERALL IN THE 1955 DRAFT, SO OBVIOUSLY HE WAS GOOD, SO KAHLIL BELL MUST HAVE REALLY TRIED REALLY HARD! I STILL THINK THAT MATT FORTE SHOULD START (FOR NOW), BUT KAHLIL BELL SHOULD BE 2ND STRING BECAUSE ADRIAN PETERSON IS KIND OF OLD, AND GARRET WOLFE IS NOT VERY GOOD :/

GO KAHLIL!!!!!! CONGRATS AND IF ANYONE ON THE BEARS IS READING THIS, TELL THE COACHING STAFF TO MAKE KAHLIL BELL 2ND STRING AND PUT HIM IN A LOT MORE THAN THEY HAVE!!!! I THINK I MIGHT BE MORE EXCITED THAN HE WAS!

I saw every game Kahlil played in high school and thus am not surprised at his success now. Best of luck and hope he can make the most of it. Even continued success will go very quickly.

I played with my boy Kahlil @ Montgomery High school Santa Rosa CA before he went to MC. He's an awesome RB, doesn't need speed cause he has the best vision I have ever witnessed. He'll be fine. Plus he still owes me for letting him borrow my shoes that he never gave back so I hope he's getting a fat check! haha.

Go Kahlil, congrats for sticking with it.
Remember what we talked about this summer, when you break through, take it to the house.

I played FB with Kahlil and Ben at MHS. Get me a job dude, the NFL could use a 195 pound out of shape common man. Chicago would really rally behind my special teams brilliance, HAHAH (joking).

I witnessed this game last season... his heart for this game is intense! Just goes to show that while the draft might highlight certain players with talent, it can still manage to overlook the potential in a player like Bell. Just stay tuned, because Bell is going to get it IN in 2010 for the Bears!!! Run hard and run loooooong, Kahlil!!!
