St. Louis Cardinals center fielder Rick Ankiel was carted off the field last night after he slammed headfirst into the outfield wall while trying to make a spectacular catch.



Luckily, it seems like Ankiel avoided serious injury.

X-rays and a CT scan of Ankiel's head, neck and back were all negative and showed no fractures, team spokesman Brian Bartow said. Ankiel remained hospitalized overnight for observation and the team said he was day to day.
