Big Baby Davis hits game-winning shot, pushes kid in front row, angers Dwight Howard

big_baby_davis_push_fan.jpgAfter hitting a last-second shot to bury the Orlando Magic in Game 4, an exuberant Glen "Big Baby" Davis pushed aside a towel-waving kid, knocking off his hat -- a fact that went entirely unaddressed by the TNT broadcast team of Marv Albert and Reggie Miller.

Associated Press photographer Phelan M. Ebenhack captured the exact moment in the photo above.

As Davis celebrated (as only Big Baby can) with his fellow teammates, the camera cut to Dwight Howard who seemed none-too-pleased. Had Howard seen Davis push the kid aside? Was he angry at Big Baby's big celebration in his house?

Either way, Davis' jumper sends the series back to Boston in a 2-2 tie.

For his part, the kid looked to be a bit annoyed, but was pretty impressive in his toughness. He recovered his hat, but was left to sift through that empty feeling that comes with watching from the front row as your team loses on a last-second shot by a man named Big Baby.

Here's the video of said fan push:

It seems the talk about Big Baby Davis' actions after hitting a last-second shot to beat the Orlando Magic last night won't be going away quietly. The father of the kid Big Baby shoved in the front row as he bounded toward the Celtics' bench has penned... Read More

HAAAAAAA - the kid shouldn't have been standing there to begin with... they're called courtside SEATS for a reason... and if Baby Davis doesn't shove him out of the way, he would've run right over the kid and done more damage, is that what u want?!?!?

THE CHAMPS TOOK BACK THEIR HOME COURT ADVANTAGE!!! Complaining about a shove on a kid who's STANDING COURTSIDE by a player on his way back to his bench after hitting a game winning shot is lame-o at best!

We may have Big Baby, but you are the Big Cry Baby!

atleast the kid will be on sportcenter a million times
courtside seats = on court actions! lol

Come on -- please don't be so immature. They were ring-side seats -- these things happen, esp in very tense situations. The fact is, that the kid was in his path -- you expect an adrenaline-packed hulk like Davis to put on the skid brakes, risk injury, say sorry and go back to rejoicing with his team in seconds?!! This is nonsense and more immature than what a six year old would think. Grow up!! This is an exciting series and let us wait and watch what happens. My best wishes to y'all in Orlando.

The fact of the matter is he is a PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE, and that comes with a responsibility to behave like one. I don't care which side you are cheering for, pushing a kid is just wrong. The CHILD was well off the court and Davis pushed him as he ran by. Admittedly I am not a fan of "Cry Baby" and this just makes me sick. As far as the “what do you expect, its courtside” comments go, where is the disclaimer in your ticket that says these seats are not suitable for children? With the league handing out fines for thumbs across the neck, what is it going to do about assault on a CHILD?!

Glen Davis didn't shove the kid, but he did run into him and as he passes puts his hand on the kids back. But if "Big Baby" had truly shoved that kid, he would have gone down hard! I bet the kid has a copy of the play on video at home and will probably put in on his Facebook page.

Another poster summed it up perfectly, "those are court side SEATS" and standing in front of them puts the fan in the territory where players do things.

Congrats to Glen "Big Baby" Davis on a fame-winning shot!

Absolutely ridiculous accusation. In the heat of the moment, Glenn Davis ran to rejoice with his other teammates. It is utterly insane for anyone to think he pushed that kid on purpose.

Insane!

Chill out. It's called emotion. Watch the video...he's most definitely not out looking for a kid (or anyone for that matter) to push. He just hit a game winning shot in the NBA playoffs to put the series at 2-2 instead of 3-1. It's a rush....it's emotion...it's a story that the kid will be able to tell for years and year and decades and decades to come. Stop making a big deal out of nothing.

Oh....and I am definitely NOT a Celtics fan.

Are you kidding me...let alone the shot was on point...and to top it off you have Big Baby shoving a kid out the way in excitement...and his friend beside him has a "Did that just happen!!" on his mugg...haha...you can't get any better than that...priceless...haha

That wasn't a push that was Glenn Davis nearly running into someone standing too close to the court. I can only imagine what you'd say if he had actually tripped and fallen on the kid.

my comment was approved but not printed

Anyone that has a problem with this is a bigger loser than the kid who got his hat knocked off. The dude just hit a HUGE game winning shot and he is supposed to tip-toe by fat rich kids to have some tea and crumpets with his teammates to reflect on what needs to be gone in game 5? stfu - this is not a story. If he seeked the kid out and threw him to the ground, maybe. Oh and Dwight Howard cares more about farting than winning basketball games - it is no surprise that he would find any distraction to take away from his poor play:

youve got to be kidding me....THE KID DIDNT EVEN FALL DOWN. as soon as i saw the replay me and my roommate died from laughter...how can you not laugh? i hate the celtics but THAT WAS HILARIOUS.

i bet that kid won't stand on the court again!

Clearly, the best we can all do is to hope and pray that with years of intense therapy (both physical and emotional) that young man will one day overcome the horror of being moved ever so slightly to his left and having his hat knocked askew.

As a Boston resident I can tell you that everyone in Boston is laughing at this kid... he didnt do it on purpose it's not that big of a deal the dad should sit down and shut-up

OH THE HUMANITY

I can't believe all the people calling this kid "fat"? Are you really name-calling a 12 year old? Honestly Davis's show of emotion at the end was a bit dramatic and too much over the top. This is a grown man, handle your emotions. We all know if this was the Magic that pushed a child in Boston, we would be suspended. Everyones making a huge deal about how Davis doesn't need to apologize. Accident or not, a respectable person would say "Sorry" expecially if you pushed child. Everyone involved has really blown this out of proportion on both sides, just say sorry and move on. Everyones just angery that Orlando is holding their own against "The Champs" Celtics.

What a maroon the father is.

Hey Anonymous at 5:17 - have you ever had an emotional experience, played a sport, or looked at the footage in question? If you have, then there is no reason for your post.

Davis bumped into the kid because the ref was in his way and he couldn't cut inside of him - again, look at the footage. The kid was standing too close to the line and not paying attention to the action on the court. The dad's just ticked that the Celtics won, and decided that the court of public opinion was the place to soothe his bruised ego.

Awwww did the fatty watty rich kid get pushed?

He pushed him out of the way so that the kid wouldn't get run over. Everyone but the kid steps back in time. If Davis gave him a real shove, his fat ass would be in the hospital.

Don't hate on the kid, he didn't do anything except be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Being just a 12 year old kid, he probably had never been court side at an NBA game before and didn't realize that he might have to dodge a player now and then. Bet if he's ever lucky enough to be court side again he'll be more careful.

PS If I was BBD I wouldn't apologize, not to be a jerk but because this kid's father might use it against him in a lawsuit, he seems the type.

look if u were to make a game winning shot u would want to celebrate too! the kid jus had to get out the way. and dont get me started on the dad, his lame self needs to go on with that lame stuff, your son got pushed!!! o well who cares! i wonder if he complains on the streets if his son gets pushed! sign him up for football and grow up and face the fact that your son is a pussy and a 6 foot 9 inch 289 pound baby beat ur team in the last seconds of game for!

If big baby davis (or any other player for that matter) were to save a ball from going out of bounds and accidentally landed on a fan in one of the first few rows, nobody would be saying anything about how he needs to stay on the court, blah blah blah. if dwight howard were to do the same thing in orlando, nobody would be throwing a fit, but because it's an opposing team whose man did this, the father is demanding an apology. he should be asking for an apology from the magic for leaving davis so wide open.

OH COME ON! THE KID WAS 5 INCHES FROM THE COURT AND BABY WOULD NOT HAVE BUMPED INTO HIM IF HE DID NOT BOUNCE OFF THE REF WHO WAS IN THE WAY IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE KID DID NOT HAVE TO STAND THAT CLOSE TO THE COURT. COURT SIDE IS NOT STANDING THAT CLOSE IT IS SITTING OVER 2 FEET AWAY. IF YOU GET UP AND GET THAT CLOSE TO THE COURT THEN I GUESS IT IS YOUR FAULT. NOTHING ABOUT THIS NEEDS A COMMENT OF "THIS MAKES ME SICK" PLEASE PEOPLE!

Big Baby Pushes Little Baby..No big deal..I feel worse for the people Glen Davis landed on all season cashing loose balls out of bounds. OUCH!

OMGosh. Get over yourselves. Gotta love non-athletes and criticizing a real one and fairweather fans acting like they're part of the team they cheer for.

They WILL get swept by the Cavs...so i say we just dont worry about the horrible celtics and forget about what the baby did

Are you friggin kidding me?! That little rich brat had court side seats. Who the F*ck Cares? If you're that close to the court you're going to get hurt. Maybe the father should worry more about his kid growing up to be a big fat cry baby then a basketball player accidently pushing him because he was too close to the court in the first place. This is so stupid. I hate rich people that feel the need to b*tch about everything. Those are exactly the kind of people that don't deserve to have money or to have the privelige of those seats.

Can't believe that this is news. I sat ringside at a boxing match (first and last) and got blood splatter from the fighters! If you don't like the action, don't sit so close, or better yet, pay attention and warn your kid that there are big bodies flying around. Don't hate the kid, Dad is a jerk. Lost in all this is a great game.

JUST STOP IT.. SITTING AT COURT SIDE AT A GAME ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN, THE FATHER WAS JUST SOUR BECAUSE HIS MAGIC LOST. IF HE WAS BOSTON A FAN WOULD HE HAVE CALLED UP THE NBA'S OFFICE AND DEMAND AN APOLOGY???. THIS IS A GROWN MAN'S GAME.. NO ONE TOLD YOU TO SPEND ALL THAT MONEY FOR THE SEATS, IT COMES WITH THE TERRITORY DEAL WITH IT.. I AGREE WITH THE GUY WHO SAID HE COULD HAVE RAN HIM OVER INSTEAD. STOP CRYING AND MAN UP

Dad was bornt a loser... hope the kid will not follow his old man's foot step. GIVE ME A BREAK! THE KID SHOULD SIT HIS BIG FAT ARSE DOWN!

this is absolutely nothing that has been made into a big deal by fake, "warm-hearted" people.. congratulations, the only harm that's going to be done to him is the embarrassment from being called a fat loser as a result of you fake people making this an issue
