Tim Lincecum, the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner, was roughed up pretty hard in his first outing of 2009. He of the Unique Windup allowed three runs in just three innings of work -- equal to the shortest start of his young career.
Lincecum was rattled enough that he mixed up his food axioms after the game.
Lincecum proved to be unintentionally amusing as he expressed his intent to maintain perspective.
"I'll try to take it with a grain of rice and move on," he said.
Rice?
"Rice, salt, whatever. I'm half-Asian," Lincecum said.
Not exactly a gaffe of Yogi Berra or George W. Bush proportions, but amusing nonetheless.
