The New York Giants released troubled (but still very talented) wide receiver Plaxico Burress Friday afternoon. This move should not be all that surprising, especially considering all the legal battles Burress has on his plate.
Burress was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a loaded
and unlicensed weapon, following an incident in November in which
he shot himself in the thigh at a New York nightclub.
According to the New York Daily News, prosecutors have been unwilling to accept any plea deal that doesn't at least include some jail time.
He was actually released three days after appearing in court for the gun charges.
