Blackhawks brawl with Canucks

How would I describe what transpired between the Blackhawks and Canucks Sunday night?

Well, that old saying, "I went to a boxing match and a hockey game broke out," was the first thing that came to mind.

For those of you who weren't at the United Center or were too busy analyzing where you went wrong with your bracket, here's a quick rundown of what happened:

- Hawks fall behind 3-0 to the Canucks, their possible first-round opponent.
- Dustin Byfuglien has a good scoring chance in front of the Vancouver net and hits All-World goalie Roberto Luongo in the face in the process.
- Some typical hockey trash talk occurs and escalates -- almost immediately -- into separate skirmishes.
- Ben Eager drops Vancouver's Kevin Bieksa with a quick left.
- Alex Burrows yanks Duncan Keith by his HAIR to the ice (that has to be a penalty).
- Dave Bolland goes after one of Vancouver's Sedin twins on the next shift (sorry, it's not in the clip).
- The result? Six Hawks end up in the penalty box at once, Eager and Adam Burish get the boot, and more than enough penalty minutes to go around.
- Oh yeah, and the Hawks lost 4-0.

If the playoffs started today, the Hawks would play the Canucks. Now, wouldn't that be something?

Unfair penalty minutes given out.

I watched that last night and am still trying to figure out how the Hawks ended up down two men. Burish, whom I didn't see throw a single punch, garnered 14 PIMs and left the ice. And the hair-pulling thing should result in a suspension from the league.

That game was a nightmare, and it doesn't excite me that this is our potential first-round match-up. On the other hand, it was nice to see some gumption out of our team. Now, if they can just find the back of the net...

Cancuks suck, obrien got his XXX whooped by eager

Canucks suck, Obrien got his XXX whooped by Eager. Burrows fights like a sissy who pulls hair

I was at the game and it was one of the worst officiated games I have ever been to. I am glad the Hawks finally stood up for themselves, too bad Campbell was not out there (so typical for him to avoid any contact so what else is new)

Hawks suck big time!!! Their young and naive and will be out in the first round...Obrien didn't fight Eager you idoit it was Bieksa. Get your facts straight. Canucks are a well rounded team -- 4 lines going with a good defense and a all-world goalie. Bifukin hits Luongo in the mask deliberately which caused everything...your team has just shown they are a bunch of sore loooooosssseeerrrssss!!! Especially your sad sack of a coach. I see that hawks fans (where were ya for so many years... lol) are a bunch of cry babies! See you in the playoffs! LOL.

I was at the game. I couldn't believe or understand how the penalties were awarded. Burish who didn't do anything gets the boot. Alex Burrows pulling on Duncan Keith's hair (who thought him to fight, his sister) gets nothing but Duncan does. I dont' get it.
Maybe the refes didn't know how to award a penality for hair pulling.

Eager jumped Bieksa. There is a picture of it on the Vancouver Province web site if you don't believe me. It's embarassing that a goon like Eager has to jump an all-star calibre defenseman from behind to get an advantage. It's typical of a classless city like Chicago. Go vote in another dodgey governor and leave the hockey to real men.

Did you notice that Eager was paired with O'brien early in the skirmish and wanted nothing to do with it? The he jumps Bieksa, not very brave? Then Bolland (when did he get so tough?) jumps Sedin - just setting up for a playoff round. Should be fun - Canucks in 5 games!

Hawks got owned last night. What a pathetic display. Quenville is a gutless loser, sending out a bunch of 4th line goons to cheap shot the Canucks goaltender and skilled players. Absolutely classless. Blackhawks showed how quickly a bunch of cocky, immature players can become completely unraveled playing against a better team. I'd love to see this match up in the playoffs, simply because the Canucks would walk over this team. Kane, Toews, Havlat... it's open season on these guys now. They better have their heads on a swivel.

The game was good til the Hawks tried to start something. The 'Nucks just ended up finishing it.

There's a bit of home-cooking going on with the TV coverage on both sides. Here in Chicago, CSN didn't show the viewers Burrish setting off the whole melee by throwing at least two punches in the middle of that scrum. What we saw began right after that, with O'Brien trying to jump into the pile in response to the Burrish punches.

In Vancouver, they didn't bother to film Burrows with the hair-pulling, so all the Canucks fans have no idea what we're talking about either. It's BS.

chicago is too inexperienced to be a true match for the canucks or the flames. They truly showed their immaturity in hitting luongo and d. sedin, granted the canucks responded with some cheap shots but what do you expect. hawks fans should be glad alain didnt put out hordichuck to deal with eager because we know how that would have ended and if you say eager on top you are truly an idiot. the point is the hawks are in trouble in the playoffs

blackhawks suck, first of all bieksa fell off balance not a quik left from that crappy eagar, canucks will rotate the blackhawks in the playoffs. Look at the fan poll on nhl.com The question was who would win in first round matchup in playoffs betweem canucks and blackhawks. 87% voted canucks. Blackhawks suck

The Hawks and their fair-weather fans better pray that Vancouver wins their division. If Vancouver and Chicago meet in the first round, it will be an embarrassing lesson for the Jr. Hawks. 5 games, see you later.
What a bunch of bandwagon-jumpers live in Chicago. You don't show up for any games for 10 years then act like you have been there all along? What a joke.

I'm not sure if the Hawks thought they were sending a message, but they sure looked stupid going after the Sedins; frightening to think that Eager is our heavyweigth when he couldn't take their middle weight; it would be like the Vancouver goons going after Kane or Toews. By the way the Bygulein play wasn't much of a scoring chance, he was really just looking to start something.

The Canucks won 4-0. What more needs to be said? Hawks and Hawks fans need to eat it.

CANUCKS SUCK...Bieksa got his as% handed to him by Eager and burrows is a hair pulling sissy..you have no offense other the twin sisters and getting grandpa Sundin was a desperate move, Flopper Luongo is also on the downside of his career...The city is filled with Losers and has ONE professional sports team the Canuckleheads who have won (wait they have NOT WON a STANLEY CUP) enough said! If you want to know tough come to Chicago otherwise stay in your town and continue to eat your Filet-Mignon and Salmon in your 5 star restaurants...HAWKS RULE!

Canucks blow...you got the crapped kicked out of you in chicago with bieksa's blood all over the ice along with keith's hair from that pussified burrows..your lucky the series is tied at 2..the Hawks by far have more talent..just look at the rosters you dumbass canuck fans..if the Hawks don't knock you out of the playoffs the flames or jackets will...oh by the way, luongo needs to keep his head up or he will get railroaded next time..

The blackhawks suck! Can't wait until they get spanked by the Red Wings in the conference finals!
