Is Ken Griffey Jr. headed back to the Seattle Mariners?

griffey-mariners.jpgKen Griffey Jr., who in his younger days delighted u swith his backwards hats, smooth swing and flashy earrings, may soon be returning to the rainy Pacific Northwest climate that nurtured him.

Nine years after leaving Seattle for Cincinnati, rumors have Griffey close to a deal that would bring him back to the Emerald City.
"Griffey and the Mariners are nearing agreement on a one-year contract.

Griffey, who is playing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf tournament this week, could join the Mariners in Spring Training as early as Wednesday -- the day of the first full-squad workout.

The slugger's brilliant career has been marred by many injuries and now, more than ever,we appreciate the 611 he's amassed in his career.
