Eddie Vedder's song pays tribute to Chicago Cubs

eddie.jpgPearl Jam frontman and Chicago Cub enthusiast Eddie Vedder's tribute to his favorite team is making the rounds this morning.

You can hear the song here.

And here's the best attempt at transcribing the lyrics I could find:

""Someday We'll Go All the Way"

Yeah, don't let them say that it's just a game.
Well, I've seen other teams and it is never the same.
When you go to Chicago, you're blessed and you're healed, The first time you walk into Wrigley Field.
Heroes with pinstripes and heroes in blue, Give us the chance to feel like heroes do.
Whether we'll win and if we should lose, we know Someday we'll go all the way.
Yeah, someday we'll go all the way.

We are one with the Cubs, with the Cubs we're in love.
Hold our heads tall as the underdogs.
We are not fairweather, but farweather fans.
Like brothers in arms, in the suites and the stands.
There's magic in the Ivy and the old score board.
The same one I stared at as a kid keeping score.
In a world full of greed, we could never want more.
Someday we'll go all the way.
Yeah, someday we'll go all the way.

Here's to the men and the legends we've known.
Giving us faith and giving us hope.
United we stand and united we'll fall
Down to our knees the day we win it all.
Yeah Ernie Banks said, "oh, let's play two".
I think he meant two hundred years.
Playing at Wrigley, our diamond, our jewel.
The home of our joy and our fears.
Keeping traditions, and wishes anew,
The place where our grandfathers' fathers they grew.
The spitual feeling if I ever knew.
And when the day comes for that last winning run, and I'm crying and covered with beer.
I look to the sky and know I was right today.
Someday we'll go all the way.
Yeah, someday we'll go all the way.

THIS SONG IS FROM 2007 SHOW @ THE VIC.

THE VERSION ON THE RADIO IS FROM LAST MONTH @ AUDITORIUM THEATER.

SORRY..BUT THIS VERSION HERE JUST SOUNDS LIKE GARBAGE.

AND IT'S 4 MINUTES TOO LONG.

The Cubs can have Eddie Vedder.
The Cards have Gretchen Wilson. And 25 WS rings.
The Sox have the presidency.

EDDIE VEDDER'S SONG FOR THE CHICAGO CUBS AVAILABLE SOON
09.18.08
At the request of Ernie Banks, Eddie threw together a song for the Cubs ("All the Way"). He got a pretty good live version of it at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago this August. It's now being played on Chicago radio and at the Bleacher Bars around Wrigleyville. We have decided to make the song available for download - you can get it here in the next few days. There's a chance we'll also make available some hard copy CDs and we're looking into souvenir 45 singles, as well. Check back here for the latest.
Go, SOX , go!

Agree with Dan, but this one has a great dig to the Sox (the non edited version).

Also, I believe he says, "Like brothers in arms, in the STREETS and the stands."

I did find the most recent version online on sendspace.com, but it seems to have since been taken down. Keep trying, I'm sure its out there.

i found a video montage of the song

Hope this helps you. I think the version is a more sober Vedder. :)

Hey Eddie, leave our Cubs alone.

Take your liberal propoganda srpeading, America hating, nobody can underswtand me butt home. We've got enough fans that love AMERICA'S team. Go team up with the Dixie Chicks loser.

Cole your an idiot the city would rather have eddie than you! your one of those idiot conservitives who think the country's doing great right now!
