Don't bet on Barack Obama managing West Ham

westham.jpgIn case you're keeping score at home, this is the second soccer-related post in the past 39 hours. I make no apologies.

The presidential candidate not appearing on tarmacs* with Levi Johnston is evidently a long shot to take over as manager of West Ham, a member of the English Premier League.

*Barack Obama
"The Democratic presidential nominee was listed as a 10,000-1 shot to take over Premier League football club West Ham on Wednesday after a London-based businessman bet 10 pounds (US$17.80; €12.33) that Obama will replace Alan Curbishley as the team's manager.

British bookmaker William Hill agreed to offer the unidentified customer the longshot odds on Obama swapping politics for the Premier League, although no one expects the 100,000 pound (US$178,000; €123,260) prize to materialize despite rumors that Obama has been a fan of the Hammers since visiting Britain five years ago.

In news you could possibly use, Hill gives Obama much better odds to win that silly little Leader of the Free World contest.

" In the other race, William Hill quotes Obama as the 4-9 favorite to beat John McCain and become president of the United States. McCain is listed at 13-8.
