Hi, my name is Ben Meyer-Abbott. I am the girls and boys high school soccer beat reporter for the Sun-Times and I'll be running the preps soccer blog for

I am also the beat writer for high school hockey and water polo, cover breaking news for the Sun-Times Media Wire and the Chicago Blackhawks on occasion for the Sun-Times.

I am a huge soccer fan and have been lucky enough to see some of the great talent that has come out of the Chicago Area the past few years.

Watching players like Waubonsie Valley's Bri Rodriguez (currently at West Virginia) and Vanessa DiBernardo (Illinois), New Trier's Amber Fry (Virginia), Glenbrook South's Janelle Flaws (Illinois), Downers Grove North's Paul Hogan (soon to be at NIU), Lyons' Kyle Kurfirst and Neuqua Valley's Patrick Doody has been a real pleasure.

I'm glad the preps soccer blog is back on and am eager to try and make it as good as its previous incarnation. I have a lot of ideas about what to do with this space, but mostly I want to do one thing: give you the kind of preps soccer coverage you want.

So please, feel free to contact me and let me know what you would like to see. I can be reached at my email: You can also follow this blog on Twitter at!/CSTPREPSOCCER.

I look forward to hearing from everyone - players, coaches and fans alike.
