Kristen Stewart a style icon? Hardly -- but this jacket is pretty cute

I never thought I'd tell anyone how to get Kristen Stewart's look, but I kind of like this royal blue Alpinestars by Denise Focil GT Jacket she wore Thursday to the after party of the New York City premiere of "New Moon."

The jacket retails for $145, and you can find it at Alpinestars.com. Choppy hair, fidgeting, and bad attitude sold separately.

From space-age shoulder pads to an angry 'Twilight' girl: A red carpet roundup

This was a big week for movie premieres, and celebrities didn't disappoint us on the red carpet. We saw plenty of shine and sparkles from Eva Mendes and Charlize Theron, and questionable space-age shoulder pads from Cameron Diaz. Not to mention, a battle-of-the-beards between Brad Pitt and Jim Carrey. Here's a roundup of red carpet looks from this week. And as always, leave a comment and let me know what you think!

Eva Mendes looked like walking confetti at the screening of "The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" Wednesday at the AFI Fest in L.A. Chris Pizzello/AP

Charlize Theron went for an old Hollywood glamor look at the screening of "The Road" Wednesday at the AFI Fest in L.A. I like Viggo as an accessory. Chris Pizzello/AP

Giant shoulder pads anyone? Cameron Diaz went for a space age look at the New York premiere of her new thriller "The Box" Wednesday. James Marsden just forgot to shave his chest hair. Or did he? Peter Kramer/AP

Apparently the "Inglourious Basterds" crew is still making its rounds around the globe. Melanie Laurent (from left), director Quentin Tarantino, a very bearded Brad Pitt and Julie Dreyfus pose on the red carpet at the Tokyo premiere Wednesday. Shizuo Kambayashi/AP

I love these looks, though I'm not sure about the goof wearing the polo shirt in the middle. "Everybody's Fine" stars Kate Beckinsale (from left), Robert De Niro and Drew Barrymore pose at the film's screening at the AFI Fest Tuesday. Chris Pizzello/AP

Holy beard! Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy arrive at the world premiere of "A Christmas Carol" Tuesday in London. (Jim Carrey is said to be gaining weight for his role as Curly in "The Three Stooges.") Matt Dunham/AP

"Twilight" star Kristen Stewart is always going on and on about how she doesn't care about fashion. OK, we get it. You don't like sparkles, you'd rather wear angry gun graphics and you refuse to spend more than 5 minutes on your hair. Mission accomplished. (Though truth be told, she doesn't really look all that bad -- I like the suspenders and jeans.) With her is costar Taylor Lautner. The two were in Mexico City Tuesday promoting "New Moon," which opens Nov. 20.

Face painting and more at Macy's free Family Fun Day this Saturday

This Saturday, November 7, is Macy's 102nd Annual Great Tree Lighting ceremony. Does this seem really early to anyone else? My East Lakeview neighborhood is still recovering from Halloween.

But in celebration of the event, Macy's on State is also holding a Family Fun Day from 1 to 3 p.m. on the 5th Floor (Kids Department). Kids can expect face painting and balloon twisting, plus they can decorate an ornament with the words "wish," "believe," imagine" and "dream" to take home. The event is free.

A second Family Fun Day will be held November 21.

Kids can be both warm and fashionable at Chicago Bulls games this year. I'm even thinking of trying on one of these T-shirts myself.

NBA and Junk Food Clothing, a vintage retro apparel company, teamed up to offer the NBA's growing base of young fans a cool new line of shirts featuring the Hardwood Classic logos of 11 NBA teams.
Don't miss the Renegade Craft Fair this weekend

Renegade Handmade, 1924 W. Division, might be my favorite boutique in Chicago.

A sucker for T-shirts with cute little graphic prints and jewelry made out of non-traditional items such as typewriter keys, I rarely make it out of this store without dropping a decent amount of cash. Which is why the idea of an entire street of Renegade items has me pondering how much of my savings I can blow.

The boutique is back with their 7th Annual Renegade Craft Fair from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, on Division between Damen and Paulina. More than 300 artists from across the country will be selling their adorable handmade goods, including clothing, jewelry, accessories, concert posters, ceramics, housewares and more, at the free event.

Watch artists create their masterpieces as you shop. Food from MANA Food Bar and Big Bite Catering, as well as beer and wine, will be available. Also, join the Facebook event page here.

And If you've been to this event before, let us know what you thought! Here are a few photos from last year's event:

Portland artist Jill Bliss is the first to be featured as part of Renegade Handmade's new Spotless Series. (The store transformed its back room into a mini-gallery to highlight work of stellar crafts people from all over the country.) Bliss' work will be shown through October 11.

Also, stop by the store from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, September 11, for an Artist Reception celebrating Bliss' work, as well as the work of two other artists, Chad Kouri and Jesse Brown, who have been working on projects in Renegade's storefont window this week. All of their creations from this week will be able at the Renegade Craft Fair.

This just in: Sandra Bullock wears a movie theater curtain to her movie premiere

Looks like someone pissed off her stylist.

It was my intent to do a rundown of the best and worst of red carpet fashion this week, but Sandra Bullock just landed a post all to herself. Because somewhere right now a very overpaid stylist is laughing her ass off over the outfit Bullock wore to the L.A. premiere of her new film "All About Steve" last night. The multi-layered, movie theater curtain-inspired Lanvin dress is a bit of a nightmare by itself, but when paired with the booties and the hair that I think my niece must have styled, you have a nice fashion disaster.

I don't even know what else to say about this. Someone get me Nina Garcia! And a job as a fashion stylist! Because apparently it's not that difficult.

Let me know what you think!

If you're a Chicago Bears-loving mom-to-be, you won't be needing that beer money this season. Instead use the extra cash for the official new Bears Maternity T-shirt, $24.98 at motherhood.com and destinationmaternity.com, and $26.99 at nflshop.com.

The NFL partnered with Motherhood Maternity to create the shirt, which is 100 percent cotton and designed for the expanding belly! Also available in white.

Premium denim without the premium price; Taking Alias' $40 jeans for a test drive

Affordable denim that still has that luxurious, designer feel? We've heard that before.

Plenty of companies have claimed such a feat. And now Web-based company Alias Premium Denim has launched the Sweet Dee, a pair of dark-washed, soft-woven denim for a mere $40. Did they live up to their claim? I enlisted my denim-loving co-worker Lori Rackl to give the jeans a test drive, and here's what she had to say:

By Lori Rackl
I'm guilty of dropping well over $100 on premium denim from companies whose
names sound like non-profits, i.e. Citizens of Humanity and 7 for All
Mankind. What can I say? I'm a sucker for the softness of the denim, the
form-fitting cut of the jeans and way they look a little worn in just the
right places.

But the economy has tanked, so it's time to start looking for affordable
alternatives. Alias premium denim, at $40 a pair, is a way to downsize your
denim spending without sacrificing too much in the style/comfort department.

Alias' jeans are like a cross between Levi's and the Big Boys like 7 for All
Mankind. They feel a little sturdier -- not necessarily in a good way -- than
pricey premium denim, but they still have that luxury feel. In other words,
these aren't the jeans you throw on to dig up dandelions in the garden.

My biggest complaint is that the button hole seems too small for the button,
so getting them on or off can be a tad frustrating. But hey, in this
economy, I'll put up with the hassle if it means saving some money.

Size chart
Alias fits sizes 0 to 12. Here's how their sizes break down: 26 (0-2); 28 (4-6); 30 (8-10); 32 (12).

Win a free pair
Alias is working on the design of their second style (Sweet Dee is the only style offered right now). Sign up here to be one of the first to try them out by winning a free pair!

Bring in old denim and get a discount at Barneys; plus a 70 percent off sale (online too!)

If you're like me and only wear four or five of the 25 pairs of jeans you own, this could be good for you.

If you bring in a pair of previously loved denim to Barneys, they'll recycle them -- through 1 Percent of the Planet, an alliance of businesses committed to creating a health planet -- and give you 20 percent off your next pair.

Offer runs Saturday, August 1, through August 31 at Barneys CO-OP, 2209 Halsted, and Barney's New York, 15 E. Oak. The deal's only valid on full-priced denim for men and women. Brands at Barneys include Helmut Lang, Levi's Capitol, J Brand, Citizens of Humanity, 7 for All Mankind, Ever, Rag & Bone, Stella McCartney and more.

DESIGNER SALE
In addition to the denim offer, all Barneys New York locations are having their Designer Sale -- 70 percent off all summer merchandise. Sale is also offered online. A few standouts from the sale: A 3.1 Phillip Lim silk tank is $98, on sale from $150. Stella McCartney skinny jeans are $109, on sale from $325. For the men, a $198 pair of Citizens of Humanity denim is on sale for $79.73).
