Several pieces from printmaker Elke Clause, a Chicagoan and graduate from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, are available at Sacred Art in Lincoln Square.

Sacred Art, situated in its new Lincoln Square Home at 4619 N. Lincoln, prides itself on selling art from hard-working Chicago artists.

This week (through Sunday -- they're open on Easter!), when you buy one piece you'll get 25 percent off the second. You'll find printmaking, paintings, photography, ceramics, mixed media, jewelry, stationary and more.

The art boutique is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and Monday; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday; closed Tuesday. (773) 738-2803.

Gift and accessories boutique Fixture, 2108 W. Roscoe, is giving its customers a chance to pre-order the colorful new Lauren bag from Chicago designer Brynn Capella.

The handbags are $289, but if you pre-order between now and 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, you'll get a 20 percent discount. Call (773) 244-3100 or email patti@shopfixture.com.

The beautiful new leather bag is offered in Fresh Cut (shown above, from left), Berry Berry, Pacific Blue and Sun Kiss orange (not pictured). The bags are part of Capella's new California Color Collection for summer, which also includes matching Dylan coin bags, $29, and Cher wristlets, $78.

Every day this month, women's clothing boutique Veruca Salt, at 520 N. Kingsbury and 1921 N. Damen, is marking down one item to 30 percent off.

Today's sale item is the beautiful Lucia 18 dress by Susana Monaco. Normally $230, the dress is on sale today for $161.

The discount is available both in stores and online. (Though online, sizes are limited. Looks like it's only available in sizes 2 through 6.)

This adorable new Calvin Klein Shirtdress is $128 at Macy's and Macys.com.

See what Macy's has to offer in spring fashion at their Designer Shopping Party at 5:30 Thursday, March 11, at the 28 Shop on the Third Floor of Macy's on State (111 N. State in Chicago).

A fashion presentation will highlight designers such as Calvin Klein, Jean Paul Gaultier, Marc Jacobs, Missoni, Sonia Rykiel, Yohji Yamamoto and more. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres included.

Call (800) 329-8667 to RSVP and snag a spot. The event is free. If you attend, let me know how it was and what your favorite looks were!

Today may be sticky and humid and horrible -- and I may look like the lead singer of an '80s hair band due to this humidity -- but spring is in the air. Sort of.

Stores have been filled with spring clothing since late January, and believe it or not, spring clothes are already starting to go on sale to make way for summer designs.

At The Dressing Room, 4635 N. Lincoln, when you buy one spring top, you can get the second at 30 percent off.

Sale lasts through the end of March. Happy spring clothes shopping! (Check out my spring shopping preview from last month to see what's hot this season.)

gapjeans.jpg
Get a discount on any new Gap denim purchase, including these Straight Fit Jeans for men, 54.50 (in classic dark blue wash).

If you're like me, you have a tall, messy pile of denim in your closet, and the bottom 6 or 7 pair of jeans never see the light of day.

From now until Sunday, you can stop by Gap, GapKids or babyGap and drop off your old denim, and the jeans will be converted into UltraTouch Natural Cotton Fiber Insulation and donated to communities in need.

In return, you'll receive a 30 percent discount on new any denim in the store.

For this project, Gap has teamed up with COTTON. FROM BLUE TO GREEN, an organization started in 2006 that converts denim to the UltraTouch Cotton Fiber Insulation and donates it to help with building efforts for communities in need.
