Since film and fashion are two of the great loves of my life, I always keep up with what's happening over at the Cannes film festival. The festival opened today with a screening of Disney's "Up." Hollywood actresses are already all over the red carpet in gorgeous evening gowns. Well, some of them are gorgeous. Others...
On the film side of things, here are some of the films at this year's festival I'm excited to hear some buzz about: "Inglourious Basterds," Quentin Tarantino's (what else?) bloody WWII film (both he and Brad Pitt expected to appear at the festival); "Bright Star" from Jane Campion ("The Piano"); "The White Ribbon" from Michael Haneke ("Cache," "Funny Games), and "Taking Woodstock," from Ang Lee and starring Emile Hirsch and Liev Schreiber.
And now back to fashion. Here are the first sightings of actresses on the red carpet at this year's festival. Leave a comment and let me know your favorite or least favorite dress. Or if you just have a catty comment, I'll take that too!
Elizabeth Banks wrapped in red. Or is that a new car?
How many layers of tops are there?: The always-interesting Tilda Swinton in a maroon suit-dress.
Indian model and actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who Roger Ebert once called "the most beautiful woman in the world" in his review of "Bride and Prejudice," is stunning in a strapless white ballgown.
No lack of shine here: Actress and Cannes jury member Robin Wright Penn in a metallic wrap dress.
