Too busy to take a few minutes out of your day to meet the fabulous Tim Gunn? I don't care. Make it work!

The "Project Runway" mentor and Liz Claiborne Chief Creative Officer is on a U.S. Spring Style Tour and is stopping by Kate Spade New York, 56 Oak in Chicago, from 4 to 6 p.m. April 16. Mark your calendars.

The style guru will discuss Kate Spade's new spring accessories collection, offer tips and discuss how thoughtfully chosen accessories can transform an everyday wardrobe in something extraordinary. I'll see you there!

I wasn't surprised when I heard the "Twilight" DVD was being released on a Saturday instead of the traditional Tuesday. After all, what kind of a midnight release party can you have on a Monday night? All the tweens are already tucked neatly into bed. And all of the mom fans are at home tucking their tweens into bed. It's a school night!

But I WAS surprised to see how many different editions are available (a quick stroll through fan sites showed me I'm not the only one who's confused). One disc, two discs, THREE DISCS??? It's enough to make your head spin. So if you haven't already pre-ordered your DVD, here's a quick and easy rundown of what will be available at five different stores this Saturday:

target.png
TARGET
Offering: A Three-Disc Deluxe Edition DVD, which includes extended and deleted scenes, audio commentary by director Catherine Hardwicke, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, music videos and a seven-part documentary on the making of "Twilight." The third disc includes an iTunes Download of the film and bonus content and is exclusive to Target.
Price: $17.99
Thoughts: Most stores are offering the two-disc for the exact same price, so why not go to Target and the third disc for free? The third disc appears to only include an iTunes Download, but this is pretty awesome considering you can download the film AND special features to your iPod or MP3 player (and you'll be able to watch Edward and Bella wherever you go!). This appears to be the best deal. Also, this is where my "Twilight"-obsessed mother will be heading to pick up her copy this Saturday in Peoria, Ill. And Linda Sedgwick is as much of a bargain shopper as anyone!

BEST BUY, AMAZON.COM, WAL-MART
Offering: The Two-Disc Special Edition DVD, which includes extended and deleted scenes, audio commentary by director Catherine Hardwicke, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, music videos and a seven-part documentary on the making of "Twilight."
Price: $17.99; $17.97 at Wal-mart
Thoughts: This seems to be the standard. But again, Target has them beat with the extra disc with the iTunes download.

twiborders29.99.jpg
BORDERS
Offering: Borders Exclusive Edition DVD, which includes more than an hour of additional bonus materials (including red-carpet interviews from the movie premiere), special photo cards and fancy packaging.
Price: $29.99
Thoughts: The packaging is beautiful -- looks very much like a TV series box set. But I'm not sure it's worth it to shell out an extra $12 or so for fancy packaging, photo cards and a few red-carpet interviews. Though it does look very pretty. (Borders is also offering the regular Two-Disc Special Edition, but for $23.79.)

Happy shopping "Twilight" fans. Oh, and if you don't yet have plans to hit a midnight DVD release party, go to the official DVD Web site, www.twilightthemovie.com, type in your zip code, and they'll tell you where to find a party near you. Also, the DVD pre-release parties at Borders start at 10 tonight and include Vampire Baseball Trivia, an in-store scavenger hunt and the Twilight Movie Awards ceremony. Go to Borders.com to find a participating store near you and download a Twilight Movie Awards ballot (you get to choose your favorite quote from the movie, favorite scenes and other nerdy things like that.) Enjoy!

Is the warm(er) weather inspiring a shopping spree? Why not try to find new spring and summer clothes on sale? Head up to Lincoln Square and stop by the Dressing Room (shown at left), 4635 N. Lincoln, and get 20 percent off all Language, Ogle and Charlotte Tarantola items. And if shoe shopping is also on the menu, stroll next door to its sister store, the Dressing Room Shoes, 4657 N. Lincoln, and get 20 percent off select styles of spring shoes.

Sales run through the end of March. Let me know if you find anything!

If you've read only a few of my blog entries, it's probably no secret I'm a big fan of Anthropologie and all the pretty things inside of it. And before you start yelling at your computer screen that this store is too darn expensive, let me say I agree with you! On most days I shield my eyes as I run past the regular-priced items and head straight back to the sales area (or sales ROOM if you shop at the Anthropologie on Southport or at the Woodfield Mall in Shaumburg).

But if you're on the hunt for jewelry on sale, you may be disappointed. It can be slim pickins when you're looking through the sale bins at the stores. But online is a different story! Beautiful lace dangles can get as low as $20. Right now there are 48 pieces of jewelry on sale at Anthropolgie.com (including earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings). Check out a few of my favorites:

CLOCKWISE FROM LEFT: Phalaenopsis Necklace, $79.95 (originally $188); Venetian Lace Earrings, $19.95 (originally $32); Gem Jumble Earrings, $39.95 (originally $58); Sweater Flower Bangle bracelet, $29.95 (originally $48).

city soles.jpg
A studded criss-cross leather peep toe heel from Corso Como, $198 (before the 40 percent off), at City Soles. Insole is padded with perferations for ventilation. I have two pairs of this Italian designer's shoes, and I can only describe the sensation as "feeling as if you're walking on a cloud."

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day at City Soles & Niche this weekend for their St. Patty's Day sale: 40 percent off all new spring merchandise. Sale is only Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15. Locations: 2201 W. North and 3432 N. Southport.

Wavy Flower Ring from Ippolita, sterling silver, $175.

TONIGHT, MARCH 12: This sounds like a pretty sexy event for the twenty- and thirty-something ladies. Join Macy's, 111 N. State, tonight at 6 p.m. for their "Is Fashion Your boyfriend? If So, Then Ladies, You Need to Hang With Us" event in their Impulse area on the second floor. (Impulse features young contemporary designers such as BCBGirls, Free People and Kenzie.) If you buy any regularly priced item, you'll get your photo taken with one of the hot City Gym Boys. And since Macy's will have one for each month of the year, you'll get to pick your favorite! In addition, you'll get 20 percent off any regularly priced item.

FRIDAY, MARCH 13 AND SATURDAY, MARCH 14: Sometimes it's just fun to look, right? Especially when jewelry is as exquisite as this. Grab a few girlfriends and head over to the Ippolita Trunk Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday on the first floor of Neiman Marcus, 737 N. Michigan. This Italian designer concentrates mostly on handmade silver and gold (though includes turquoise for some of her pieces), and includes earrings, rings, necklaces and bangles. Though just a quick warning: The gorgeous ring shown above is about the least expensive thing I could find on the Web site.

Want highlights but can't afford the $100-plus to get them? Brilli Salon, 3334 N. Ashland, is offering a pretty good winter special: For $50, one of the experts at the salon will add some face-framing highlights to brighten you up! The highlights will last up to three months so you won't have to stop by in couple of weeks for a touch-up.

To schedule an appointment, go to www.brillisalon.com. Offer expires April 1.

The umbrella has been an important accessory in the movies. Characters have used one to dance, fly, kill people and more. After a quick poll around the office to find co-workers' favorite movie/umbrella moments, here are a few noteworthy umbrellas, and I'll show you where to find ones just like them. (And click here for my column today on new umbrella fashion!)

stick umbrella.jpg

SINGIN' IN THE RAIN/BATMAN RETURNS
The umbrella: The classic black stick umbrella (or cane umbrella, as some say)

How it's used: One as a dance prop; the other as a deadly weapon, whether using it to fire bullets or spray deadly gas!

One like it: Totes offers one for $16 (shown above). Comes in other colors if you want to be rebellious.

LOST IN TRANSLATION
The umbrella: Clear umbrella

How it's used: For Scarlett Johansson to walk around looking effortlessly chic in Tokyo (can you tell I have a girl crush on her?).

One like it: The Clear Bubble umbrella, $18 at Urban Outfitters.

red.jpg

THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG
The umbrella: Several stick umbrellas, in every color including red, pink, blue and yellow.

How it's used: A young Catherine Deneuve was surrounded by umbrellas as she worked in her mother's umbrella shop.

One like it: The Totes Stick Umbrella in crimson, $12.99 at Target.

I wrote a column earlier this year on what trends to expect for '09, the biggest of which is the boyfriend pant (or jean). It's an '80s-inspired pant that starts high at the waist, is fuller in the hips, and then tapers at the ankle. Oh, and there are pleats involved. Pleats! I know, I'm having trouble adjusting to this too. (Side note: It's called the 'boyfriend' pant because it has the look of throwing on your boyfriend's pants that are a little baggy at the top.)

So far I've only seen the boyfriend pants on models, such as the skinny girls from Urban Outfitters who can pull off anything (don't we hate them?). I wasn't sure how this would look on an actual person with curves, and, you know, a real body. But last night, "American Idol" contestant Lil Rounds wore a pair (the show's stylists clearly do a number on these contestants, making them look remarkably better than in their original audition). And this girl's got some serious curves.

Paula commented on her outfit, saying she liked the beautiful colors. Simon said he hated what she wearing.

But what do you think? I'd like to know. Personally, I'm a big fan of the pants on her (but the top could use a LOT little less frill). But I'm still not convinced the boyfriend pant is a good look for everyone (including me).

Shoot me a comment and let me know your thoughts!
