Summer sales make me giddy. And last weekend I was pleasantly surprised to see racks are still packed with marked-down spring and summer clothes (I paid $62 for a designer skirt that was originally $262). Here's where to find a few great sales in Chicago:
Veruca Salt, 1921 N. Damen, (773) 276-9888: The back wall of this Bucktown boutique is devoted to clothing up to 85 percent off (almost entirely smalls and mediums, though); shoes from designers such as Poetic License and Oh Deer are marked down to as low as $29.99; a huge selection of denim is on sale for $40 (or two pairs for $70 and 3 for $90); and today through Aug. 14 is the store's Spend and Save, where if you spend $100 on fall merchandise you get a $10 gift certificate. If you spend $200 you get a $20 gift certificate (and so on).
Robin Richman, 2108 N. Damen, (773) 278-6150: The gorgeous European designer clothing sold in this Bucktown boutique doesn't exactly fall into the affordable category, which is why you should rush over right now: Spring and summer clothing, including designers such as Gary Graham and Marc Le Biahn, is marked down 75 percent. I just bought a Graham & Spencer skirt for $62 (originally $262). Go now!
Cinnamon Boutique, 2104 W. Roscoe, (773) 281-2466: Summer clothing (and some jewelry and purses) at this Roscoe Village boutique are marked down between 20 and 60 percent. But from now until Sunday, buy one sale item and receive an additional 10 percent off; buy two sale items and receive an extra 20 percent off each item (and so on). Designers on sale include Free People, BCBG and J Brand.
If you know of a summer sale this week -- or if you got a great deal you want to brag about -- let us know. And happy shopping.
