Metro & Tri-state Daley lands on O'Hare's new runway
A triumphant Mayor Daley landed Thursday on the first new runway built at O’Hare Airport in 37 years and vowed full speed ahead on O’Hare expansion — even though major airlines are refusing to finance it. "This is all about the future, not the present… If your business thinks for the future, you’ll be around. If you don’t think of the future, these businesses will not be around. These businesses are thinking for the future," Daley said.

Bulls' big men coming up small John Jackson: After the Bulls' embarrassing 116-74 loss Wednesday to the Portland Trail Blazers, I was curious to see how rookie coach Vinny Del Negro would react the next day. I didn't have to wait long for an answer. Shortly after the team arrived at its luxury downtown hotel in the wee hours Thursday, Del Negro decided to cancel the practice scheduled for later in the day.
Blackhawks enjoy turnaround vs. nemesis Turco The Dallas Stars -- and their goaltender, Marty Turco, in particular -- had been brutal against the Blackhawks, especially at American Airlines Center. The Hawks were 1-8-2 with one tie on the Stars' home ice since 2001-02, and Turco owned a 14-2-1 career record against the Hawks going into the second game of the Hawks' six-game road trip Thursday night.

Entertainment John Legend's new sound shows he's an 'Evolver' John Legend is that rare R&B/pop star whose success is measured in album and ticket sales rather than airplay. “I haven’t been a big singles artist, but when I do concerts, the people who buy my album want to hear all the tracks that never got played on the radio,” he says. “So we try to give them as much as we can in the show,” like his Chicago performances tonight at Friday.

Business Dems are postponing crucial vote on auto bailout Democratic leaders in Congress sidetracked legislation to bail out the auto industry Thursday and demanded the Big Three develop a plan assuring the money would make them economically viable. ''Until they show us the plan, we cannot show them the money,'' Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said at a hastily called news conference in the Capitol. She and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said Congress would return to work in early December to vote on legislation.
