Good to see Pee-wee back and sticking it to Apple. I can't be the only one who thinks Apple is the most annoying company of the last decade...right?
What's funny is that all the Apple sycophants will think this is the greatest thing ever because it has that shiny little apple on the back of it, when really -- like the Iphone -- it can't do half of what other similar items can do. I remember when Apple was all excited when the iPhone was able to send picture messages. Yup. That's such a great feature my free Nokia five years ago could do it.
The arrogance of Jobs and his cronies is amazing in that they know they can continue to just release inferior electronics knowing that year by year they just have to mete out simple applications and features that they could have released with their first generation.
Oh well...hopefully this thing tanks and they have to rethink their company like they did when they came up with iPod.
By the way have you seen "The Simpsons" episode where Lisa gets a MiPod? One of the few times in the last five years where "The Simpsons'" satire has been sharp.
Thanks for posting this ,Jim. It's nice to know Pee-wee still has it. Oh, and sorry about the rant, hehe.
Paul Reubens must of saying all these years:
"I'm not goin back to Pee Wee. Not doin pee wee. Not doin pee wee."
And as he slowly fades from the memories of 40 year olds...
"O f*** it, I'll do pee wee".
Alex, I believe Reubens has said over the years that he wanted to do another Pee Wee, but he wasn't sure if he'd be able to because of the lingering sting of scandal. Obviously something like this isn't intended for children, so no risk of controversy.
Fair enough. I just seems like a lot of actors would like to move on and hope for other projects. I actually think Paul Reubens is a good actor. I remember him playing the Venice Beach drug dealer in "Blow". He was great. I have nothing against him. It was mainly just a joke.
Jim, I notice that you are very fond of exclamation marks lately. Three of the last four entries titled with one. Crazy!
And I think the iPad looks cool. I'm also a teacher, and I dream of the day when students can just download all the books they need at the beginning of the semester, instead of me tracking down books they forget to bring all year long. If they can take notes in the same place they read, so much the better; their Bermuda Triangle backpacks will be a thing of the past.
I don't get all the Apple hate. They try to streamline and improve products others have all ready made (the iPad is obviously a much improved Kindle). Is there something bad about that?
//(the iPad is obviously a much improved Kindle)//
Obviously.
I agree with Matthew. The future of electronics, as well as the present, is streamlined compactability. The less gadgets we have to keep track of, the more efficient our work becomes. Apple has understood this basic concept for a over a decade.
Not to mention the ten hour battery life of the iPad (such a dreadfully unfortunate name). My HP Pavilion has a battery life of about two hours --and I'm not even allowed to touch the screen.
Kevin, perhaps it's just pricing that irks you. As far as quality, aesthetics, usability, navigation, and practicality -- Apple is top notch. Is it worth having to refinance your home for a new Mac? That's for you to decide.
Nevertheless, this Pee-Wee skit is splendidly entertaining.
People either to tend to overpraise or overslam Apple. In reality, they're like any other company; some great ideas, some bad ones.
I have both a Mac and a PC. I prefer the Mac for some things, and the PC for others. No big deal.
If I were ever to shell out money for an iPad (which I would only do once the prices come way down, and it reaches 2nd generation), I would probably only use it on long trips away from home, as I prefer to hold an actual book in my hands when I read.
For me, the biggest issue with Apple is the unnecessarily prohibitive price. They'd double their market share if they drastically reduced prices on their computer line.
The iPad doesn't support Flash. End of story for me.
I spend a ton of time on the internet and a lot of that time is spent with Flash applications. You can't even view the video at the top of this page on an iPad (it's Flash). Nevermind other stuff I spend way too much time on, like online Google Scrabble. I needs me my Scrabble.
So, I'm going spend $500-800 dollars on a portable computer that can't even browse the web? Huh?
You know what? Apple fanatics are so arrogant, their response would be something like (and I'm really not exaggerating here): You don't need Flash. Why do you think you need it? Flash is flawed and outdated. People don't want that crap, and neither do you. People want beauty and simplicity. Apple can do anything a Windows or Linux OS can do, end of story. Just do stuff that doesn't require Flash.
Yeah. I'm serious. I've heard that kind of response time and time again. It's disgusting.
If you're gonna use something with compatibility issues, might as well use something free: a Linux OS (like Ubuntu) on the PC you already own.
I digress, but yeah, it's a great video. And why DIDN'T they vet the name of the iPad more thoroughly??? MadTV had an iPad joke, too, but of course, being MadTV, it sucked.
I'm just sorry that Pterry didn't swoop down and snatch it from his hands.
