1) Despair, one of the Three Beggars, on one leg. (LVT ought to know that Despair is grey, not black.)
Three things that could happen to you, too, right after seeing Lars von Trier's Antichrist

"Young man, let me explain something to you: Every shot in a picture is the most important shot in a picture." -- Ernst Lubitsch
"I don't think you go to a play to forget, or to a movie to be distracted. I think life generally is a distraction and that going to a movie is a way to get back, not go away." -- Tom Noonan
"Cinema is a matter of what's in the frame and what's out." -- Martin Scorsese
“An idea does not exist apart from the words that express it. Style is not an envelope enclosing a message; the envelope is the message.” -- Dwight Macdonald

another side effect for me, when I saw it: I found myself walking in haunting, surreal, yet strangely beautiful extreme slow motion all around town.
i also have learned to hate my sex organ.
Wow, Jim. I've been reading you blog for a long time now, and it's odd to have you now in my home city for our humble film festival. If you have any spare time left after all your festival movies and reviews, I'd suggest taking a trip down to the Pacific Cinemateque at 1131 Howe Street. On right now is a retrospective of the Czech filmmaker Karel Vachek, the first Vachek retrospective ever in North America. Anyway, have a fabulous time at the festival and I hope Vancouver treats you well.
JE: Thanks, Zachary. I've been meaning to get up here for VIFF for years. And thanks for the tip, too.
And... what did you think of Anti Christ? I'll be patient but, of course, we're all waiting for a review! (INSERT: please)
