Took the train to British Columbia Thursday for the Vancouver International Film Festival, one of the five largest fests in North America (377 films this year), from which I'll be reporting for the next week. Checked into my hotel, looked out the window and had a moment of Polanski déjà vu from "The Tenant": I didn't see myself looking back at myself, but I think that's me in the window below, writing this post. So far I have no urge to jump or put on a wig. More as it develops...
Polanski déjà vu in Vancouver

Jeem, Go to Robson, the wig store is next to Starbucks, who will make you the hot chocolate, provided you buy the Marlboros. Acme Glass's # is (604) 730-1315, run by The Madame. tell them that Simone sent you for a 20% discount, and give my regards to Alan Franey. Kisses, Simone
As I live in a suburb of Vancouver, I'm going to try and check out a few flicks in the next few weeks at the VIFF. Yeah, we don't get many of the big Oscar-bait films (like the Toronto festival), but I'm rather looking forward to seeing It Might Get Loud, An Education, The White Ribbon, and perhaps I'll even give Antichrist and Precious a look (based on buzz).
I'll keep an eye out for you at the Granville Empire Cinemas, Jim. Too bad it's an old multiplex, and you pretty much have to choose your seat carefully, as it doesn't have sloped stadium seating. Chairs are rather uncomfortable as well.
I'm not overly familiar with most of the titles in the program (obviously few of them have been heavily marketed); have you seen or heard anything really good about any flicks that I should make any effort to see, Jim?
Sucks to be you.
JE: Sucks to be Simone Choule.
Damn..........did not know you were coming.I would have been there from day one!
You should have brought Roger Ebert along(with due respect I know he is not doing too well).
I am in biggest fan in the world but heck I will take you too.
VIFF is a great festival but sadly we don't get the media hype TIFF gets.
Enjoy our fair city and check out our newer theatres. You will think it is NY.
