When I first saw the green penis right in the middle of the Fifth Anniversary Issue of The New York Times Style Magazine, I wonder who thought they were getting away with something. Then I saw the credit at the bottom of the cover: "Artwork by Jeff Koons." That explains it. (Detail below...)

Come on. Look again. What do you see above the other eye? That's right. An antenna. Is it safe to say that this could be another antenna caught from a bad angle? Don't you feel foolish now?

off topic, but Jim, have you seen DISTRICT 9 and are you going to write about it? Looking forward to your insights on this one.

JE: I haven't yet. Too much (non-cosmetic!) surgery recently. But I'm excited to see it...

It does bear a remarkable similarity to a trouser snake though...

It does seem like something juvenile enough for Koons to do. That cover art is ATROCIOUS by the way.

I agree with Warren - write about movies please

JE: Paying attention to visual information IS about movies. Movies are everywhere. Not just on movie screens.

@Raymond,
The question ought to be - Why was the bad angle chosen?

The answer: you have a dirty mind, and that's all there is to it.

JE: Or Jeff Koons does.

Koons may be brazen, but obviously not enough to include the balls.
