I think you've misinterpreted him. I took it to mean that Transformers was more flamboyant/overtly homosexual than Brüno... not that it is, of course: it's a film about macho robots (AFAIK; I haven't actually seen it).
JE: Which definition do you mean? I provided a range of 'em!
Funny clip!!!

Above is a public service announcement GLSEN made a to try to eliminate all other uses of the word "gay", so that it no longer has negative connotations.
I think that it’s been ingrained into our culture for too long. Saying that something is gay, when you mean "bad" is unfortunately here to stay.
I have never seen Bruno but i hear its pretty funny but i hear you have to like his type of humor. Transformers I thought was a great movie tho...A little long (by about 30 minutes) One thing I should point out and that most people know is that a review is an opinion or view of what a person's take on a movie is..Mr Ebert i think your comments about the newest installment of the Transformers series is a little harsh....OF course its not an Oscar contender for acting (maybe special effects) but its the type of movie that you can go and watch and have fun while doing it...Roger Ebert if you didnt like the movie thats ok....thats your opinion and i respect that..Just dont think your opinion matters more than anyone else;s just because of your job. I had respect for you but when you replied to some of the Trans fans blogs i lost all respect for you...Just because half the world disagrees with you dont get bent out of shape about it....Oh well the 3 one will be even better and i am sure you will hate it....
returnofthesmith is right - sitting around moaning about how the word has negative connotations is just pointless. In this context it really has nothing to do with sexual orientation any more, and people who stand for sexual liberation could better spend their time. Frankly, as a queer person myself, I never liked the word, and lots of other queer people don't; it has an unpleasant, condescending air about it. Its original meaning of carefree and happy was euphemistic when applied to Guys Who Dig Guys, and was almost certainly not first used by a gay person, so in a sense it was 'reclaimed' like 'queer' (a much better and all-encompassing term). I think the word actually has an inherently negative quality when applied to people - as much to do with the way it sounds as anything - so it's not surprising it's used this way now. In fact, the problem people have with that word is probably one of the factors keeping gay and bi people in the closet.

Most people are still infantile when it comes to dealing with the complex nature of sexuality.
