Tony Rezko's lawyers have renewed their request to get Rezko out of jail, where he's been since his late January arrest.

Today, his lawyers asked U.S. District Judge Amy St. Eve to release him in $8 million bond secured to a
number of properties and in addition, Rezko and his wife, Rita, would post $350,000 in cash, according to a defense filing.

Rezko, 52, of Wilmette, has been behind bars since his January 28th arrest. The arrest came after prosecutors said Rezko took a $3.5 million loan from Iraqi-born billionaire Nadhmi Auchi in connection with a 62-acre parcel South Loop development.
Last year, St. Eve had told Rezko in a closed door discussion he had to tell her about any transactions involving that parcel of land.
St. Eve indicated today she would rule on the motion in open court.

Well, at this point he may have had enough time to copy some get our of jail free pointers from former Iraqi Electric Minister, mr. Gone Missing Ayham al-Samaraie.

Rezko knows he is going to be found guilty, time to run. Maybe he can put in a call to his friend Alsammarae for free advise, and Auchi for funding his escape,Frawley can make the bid and Mahru can broker the deal. Patrick Fitzgerald could take a vacation.

When are the federal prosecutors going to check on the Obama, Rezko, Alsamarrae, Auchi, Daniel T. Frawley and Blagojevich, Daniel Mahru connecttion? When are they going to check on the escape of Alsamarrae from Baghdad, and Obama U S senate office? When are they going to check on Obama's connection to Companion Security in Iraq? After Obama is sitting in the Oval Office meeting with Hamas or Hezbollah!

TO: JP - you said it. Isn't it sad? Isn't this absolutely frustrating? This country is about to send this guy to the White House so we can spend the next 4 years knee deep in an Obamagate investigation. It will make some new Prosecutor very famous, the talking heads will continue to get great ratings and our country will teter on the verge of an economic depression. It's a complete disgrace. How the heck is it that the story of Obama is so intentionally ignored??? Bless the Sun Times reporters - if it weren't for these dedicated reporters this story would have no hope.

I don't think so. I think the trial is turning slowly but surely to Obama. Certainly it's in the U.S. Attorney's interest to snag Obama, if he can. But he's a very cautious U.S. Attorney. Nevertheless, I think Obama will be dragged in and indicted. He's obviously a hood. What a complete dog!

POST BAIL TO FREE REZKO? BUT ISN'T THE CASE MOVING TOWARDS CONVICTING REZKO? I MEAN NOW THAT LEVINE IS GONE FROM THE STAND WE SEE SOME LEVEL HEADED WITNESSES THAT ARE POINTING THEIR FINGURES AT REZKO SO WHY WOULD ANY JUDGE RELEASE A GUY WHO IS ABOUT TO GET CONVICTED? MY VOTE IS NO...YOU PLAY THE GAME THEN YOU PAY THE PRICE...KEEP HIM JUDGE...KEEP HIM.

Tony REZKO is innocent and Levin is the lowest you can get. The feds have the wrong guy in jail. LEVIN is a druggy, con artist for his entire life and he is all the Feds have in this case no matter how much they try to get to the Governor and higher.
Rezko is a great guy that got lost among the crazies in this state which has a history of corruption and chaos ... LET REZKO GO HOME TO HIS Family and end this witch hunt

George, what part of Syria are you from ? How Are you related to tony "the crook" rezko ? Will you be posting his bail too ? Did he get you hired with the state ?
Anyway, Tony Rezko knows that he will soon be a "permanent guest" of the federal prison system. Therefore, releasing him from custody is assuring his flight from American justice. And for Rezko to come clean with the judge about the 62-acre property is wishfull thinking, because that would be admitting that he is a part owner and that money he stole was used to buy his interests. Also, the $3.5 million wired by the crooked iraqi billionaire to Rezko are also "stolen" funds stashed abroad by this soon to be convicted crook, and which he probably never reported on his federal income tax statements. Another federal crime that should be added to his long list of federal offenses !!!

Jennifer,
You must be related to Rezko, or your kidding.

tray tables up and seat belts attached, Welcome to Costa Rica Mr. Rezko

I get kick out of the Rezko supporters...

The case isn't being tried here it's being tried in court. Although it may make you feel good, exclaiming that "Rezko is a good guy" really doen't ring true.

He did try and bilk G E Capital out of millions(oh yeah, that's another case) and freinds (oh yeah, that's another case). There is nothing about this guy that suggests "he's a good guy"...This case included.
