Keeping Rezko away from the planning board
Prosecutor Reid Schar clearly had Ed Kelly on the brain when he addressed witness Jeff Ladd as:
"Mr. Kelly," then proceeded with his question. Schar still did some damage. Ladd hired Ed Kelly as a consultant paying him $80,000.
"Your goal in hiring Mr. Kelly was singular?" Schar asked.
"Yes,"
"That was to keep Mr. Rezko out of the planning board?" Schar continued.
"Yes," Ladd said.
Ladd previously said he hired Kelly, a longtime Cook County Democrat, as a way to keep Tony Rezko's influence away from hospital applications. Ladd represented several hospitals who were trying to get board approval.
