Recruiting notes: Heldring to William and Mary

From Scott Powers:

New Trier's 6-foot-10 center Fred Heldring committed to William and Mary on Thursday. He also considered Cornell, Davidson and Loyola.

"Things are easy for Fred," Rising Stars coach Mike Weinstein said. "He can shoot and pass the ball. He has a chance to be a really good player. He can guard 3, 4, 5 because of his athleticism."

Weinstein also noted that New Trier's Alex Rossi was down to Northwestern, Notre Dame, California and Virginia and could make a decision as early as next week.

Mundelein star Ben Brust is also considering Stanford, Iowa, Northwestern, Butler and Virginia, according to Weinstein.

According to a source at Illinois, the report that Jereme Richmond is leaving Waukegan for Findlay prep is not true. At least not yet. Richmond is waiting on his grades. It still could happen, but they are hoping Richmond gets to play his senior year for the Bulldogs.

The source also confirmed that Crandall Head is staying at Crane for his senior year.

UPDATE: Just spoke with Jereme's father Bill. He said Jereme will be at Waukegan next year.
