College basketball loses a pair

Former Marshall all-state basketball star Patrick Beverley, who had two outstanding seasons seasons at Arkansas before being removed from the team, will play overseas this season. He hopes to be selected in the 2009 NBA draft.

Also, the 2008 national high school player of the year, Elena Delle Donne, who signed with Connecticut in November will not be heading to college to play basketball for the Big East power.

Delle Donne, a 6-5 guard from Urseline Academy in Delaware, has been pursued since she was in seventh grade. In the summer of 2007, she took a break and turned down USA Basketball, after having been selected to the U19 team. She also didn't play on the summer AAU circuit.

Delle Donne was at UConn for a couple of days in June before returning home for personal reasons.
