Former Ilinois star and current Houston Rocket Luther Head is back at Manley this week, hosting a camp for area players with former Manley coach Bo Delaney and Curie coach Mike Oliver. A number of NBA players are supposed to stop by and help out. Current players from Crane, Marshall and Curie are also in attendance. The camp kicked off on Monday and runs through Friday from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The public is welcome to come watch.

Scott Powers just spoke with Iman Shumpert about the scholarship offer he received today from North Carolina coach Roy Williams.
"He texted me this morning and said the scholarship was mine," Shumpert said. "I'm going to give them a closer look now. I said I would look at them more seriously if they offered me. I'm thinking of taking an unofficial visit there."
Shumpert is playing in the Stagg shootout and at a tournament at Notre Dame this weekend.

The national recruiting sites don't respect the local class of 2009. Dave Telep of Scout.com didn't rank a single Illinois player in his top 50 (released today). He's probably right. I fully expect Young's Marcus Jordan to eventually crack the national top 50, but no one in the class has proven they belong in the elite just yet, which is rare for the Chicago area...
