We're going to try something new here at the blog. Every week (hopefully Monday) I will take a look at all the major rankings in the Chicago area (Sun-Times, Tribune, ESPN Chicago, City/Suburban Hoops Report) add things up and determine the consensus rankings.
Here's a look at the preseason. Only 14 teams were ranked by all four publications:
1. Simeon (4)
2. Warren (10)
3. Young (11)
4. Proviso East (15)
5. Curie (23)
6. De La Salle (27)
7. Downers South (29)
8. Homewood-Flossmoor (29)
9. St. Rita (40)
10. Morgan Park (48)
11. New Trier (52)
12. Crane (52)
13. Hyde Park (60)
14. Andrew (66)
The following teams were ranked by at least three publications:
15. Farragut (35) unranked by Hoops Report
16. Crete-Monee (41) unranked by Tribune
17. Hillcrest (50) unranked by ESPN Chicago
18. Oak Park (54) unranked by Tribune
19. Elgin (60) unranked by ESPN Chicago
20. Bloom (64) unranked by Sun-Times
What's the number in parentheses and how do you calculate who's ranked where?
Mr. O'Brien,
I would take out ESPN-Chicago and replace it with the chicago hoops rankings. Scott Powers is a moron and I highly doubt he actually goes to any of these games - what a tool! Stinnette's rankings are much more accurate and reflect someone whom actually does real research.
