Sherrill Hanks,, who coached at Quincy High School and Quincy College, died Monday night in an Alabama nursing home. He was 85.
At Quincy High School, Hanks was 354-89, and won at least 20 games every season. His teams finished second in the 1965 and 1972 state tournament, and third in 1962.
Sherrill Hanks was a legend as coach of the Quincy Blue Devils. He was a man of character and strong beliefs and an outstanding role model for his players. He made a lasting impression on many people and his memory will live on forever.
