Calvin Davis responds...

| 8 Comments | No TrackBacks

Two days ago in the basketball notes I asked why the Public League singled out Young coach Tyrone Slaughter and Von Steuben coach Vince Carter for recruiting Crandall Head. Here is Public League Sports Director Calvin Davis' response:

"I've been fair," Davis said. "The two people that received the suspension got it because there was compelling evidence and testimony. Give it to me on any other coach and I will do the same thing. Nobody was singled out and I'd be happy to investigate anybody else if any evidence is presented."

IT'S GOOD TO SEE SOMETHING HAPPEN, I JUST HOPE THE
PLAYER HAS A DECENT SEASON, HE SHOULD STILL BE AT
SOUTH, BUT THAT IS WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE!
PEOPLE FORGET WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A TEEN-AGER, NOT
A PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE, A TEEN-AGER!
CAN YOU IMAGINE COACHES SITTING IN THE PARENTS HOME
TALKING ABOUT THEIR SCHOOLS, AND THE PLAYER IS SITTING
THERE AND HE ALREADY HAS A DEAL TO GO TO U OF I, HOW
ATTENTIVE WAS THE CONVERSATION, JUST WONDERING?
THIS IS SPIKE LEE MATERIAL!

Calvin Davis has me confused! He rules on this recruiting issue which I think is a joke but kids are missing practices at school while waiting on coaching issue revoLVING PAdDLING!Something else that strikes me as weird all the transfers that come to Simeon and CyRUS OR CALVIN DAVIS SAY NOTHING OR DO NOTHING! When is Fenger ruling coming ? Something fishy in PUBLIC LEAGUE!

Coach Hardy,
I want to defend Calvin Davis and Cyrus. You really exhibit a high level of ignorance. The paddling issue is not Davis' or Cyrus' decision. it is a Board level decision. All transfers are ruled on based on the Constitution and bylaws. Do you have a clue about what that is? Also, if you look Simeon has not had a public to public transfer ruled eligible ever since Nick Anderson. Do you know the rule for a non CPS student who transfers in to CPS? The Fenger ruling is a mass tranfer ruling situation involving over ten students. I bet when Davis makes the ruling, it will be consistent as well as by the book. People like you who have no clue about rules and procedures need to shut up and learn. Calvin Davis is experienced, knowledgeable, and does an excellent job with all of the mess he has to deal with on a daily basis in the Public League as a whole. Not just basketball. Stop commenting on things that are well above your head. Davis is Masters prepared. What are your credentials? Be quiet!

I HEAR YOU COACH HARDY, BUT THESE MEN RULE ON PAPER
WORK NOT STREET ISSUES, THEY THEN SEND THE PAPERWORK
TO THE STATE FOR A FURTHER RULING!
I DON'T THINK EITHER MR. DAVIS OR MR. MCGINNIS ARE
PLAYING ANY FAVORITES IN THEIR RULINGS, IT IS A TOUGH
JOB!
THE PADDLING ISSUE WOULDN'T HAVE COME UP BUT THE
VOLLEYBALL PLAYER BROUGHT ALOT OF ATTENTION TO THAT
ISSUE! IT REALLY AFFECTED THE PLAYER BECAUSE HE QUIT
THE SPORT!
REMEMBER COACH THESE MEN CAN ONLY RULE ON ISSUES ONE
AT A TIME!
DON'T FORGET ALOT OF THESE SCHOOLS ARE CALLED VARIOUS
NAMES LIKE CAREER ACADEMIES AND PREP SCHOOLS, IF THE
TRANSFER FITS INTO THESE CATEGORIES, THAT IS ONE WAY
FOR HIM OR HER TO TRANSFER, AND BELIEVE IT OR NOT SOME
YOUNGSTERS MOVE INTO THE SCHOOLS BOUNDARY ZONE!
LOOK AT THE CRANDALL HEAD AND HIS BROTHER'S SITUATION
WHAT IF THEY ARE DRIVING 35 MILES EACH WAY TO GO TO
THE SCHOOL ON THE WESTSIDE, BUT THEY AREN'T DOING THAT
BECAUSE THEY HAVE PROPERTY ON THE WESTSIDE, SEE WHAT
I MEAN COACH HARDY!

The ruling has finally came in regards to Fenger and Bogan and all of this is unfair to the kids. They allowed Marcus Jordan and Crandall Head to become eligible immediately and those decisions wasn't based on athletic issues! Come on, you can't start to say they wasn't yes Young is a top academic school, but so is Jones, Payton, and Northside Prep but they don't have a nationally ranked basketball team. Rich South to Crane we know that move was not for academics nor safety! Yet the kids that transfered from Washington to Fenger and Bogan are ineligible they (Sports Administration) knew there was widespread racial and gang problems at Washington HS to the point that they brought in a new principal to the school and extra security was everywhere. Whose to say that those kids didn't leave because the environment didn't promote a sense of racial harmony or safety and being at a school wasn't safe anymore, this is crazy!!! There are some hidden agendas even the kid Sondale Conner from Brooks to Simeon and he is actually at a school that is closer to his home. What is the real beef!

YOU HAVE TO ADMIT THOUGH IT LOOKS FISHY WHEN SEVERAL
YOUNGSTERS FROM ONE SCHOOL TRANSFER TO ONE SPECIFIC
SCHOOL, I FEEL YOU ON THE SAFETY ISSUE, BUT IT LOOKS
BAD ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN!
ONE DAY A RULING WILL COME DOWN THAT UNLESS YOU
PHYSICALLY MOVE AND IT IS PROVEN THAT YOU COME IN AND
OUT OF THAT DWELLING ON A CONSISTENT BASIS, THAT IS
THE ONLY WAY A TRANSFER WILL BE APPROVED!
I KNOW I'M DREAMING, BUT THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN, FACE
FACTS OUR YOUNGSTERS HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF WINNING
THE LOTTERY THAN GOING PRO ANYWAY!
JUWAN HOWARD- CHICAGO VOCATIONAL, LUTHER HEAD-MANLEY,
TONY ALLEN, WILL BYNUM-CRANE TECH, ARE THERE ANY OTHER
CHICAGO PUBLIC LEAGUERS IN THE NBA, JUST ASKING?

Ummm Derrick Rose heard of him lol

I FORGOT ABOUT Q. RICHARDSON AS WELL, ALSO BOBBY SIMMONS FROM SIMEON!
THE POINT IS, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WHEN THE BALL
STOPS BOUNCING, WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO FALL BACK ON, VERY
FEW MAKE IT TO THE NBA OR EVEN OVERSEAS!
MATTER OF FACT VERY FEW MAKE IT TO A DIVISION 1 SCHOOL!
SEE ALL OF YOU AT THE BIG DIPPER TOURNAMENT!
