Sophomore sensation Jereme Richmond, an Illinois recruit, played with Waukegan Monday night at the College of Lake County summer league...

Waukegan lost to North Chicago 51-36, but it looks like a sure sign the Richmond is no longer at North Shore Country Day.

Should be good for Jereme - I think this AAU season - where he's been playing a level up with the 16 year olds - has further convinced him that better competition is needed.

WHAT VALUE do oral commitments from 7th & 8th graders have. For that matter, WHAT VALUE do oral commitments from high school juniors and seniors have?
Answer: It is evident that these commitments have NO VALUE, because, apparently, young male basketball players are as fickle as girls of the same age.

What is more important to us Illini fans is how many signed, paper, commitments Bruce Weber has received from blue chippers? My guess is
that it will be a miracle if Jereme Richmond matriculates at Illinois.

I have another question: How long will it be before young basketball recruits are able to see that Bill Self is is a good recruiter, but
not a good coach, and that the Kansas team they are being asked to join
is very likely to be an underachiever because of this?

I attended Waukegan High School in 2006, we have had great basketball teams, we just lost to Glenbrook North in SuperSectionals. Having watched last years team suffer a coaching change during late summer and losing 7 seniors 5 of were starters, Waukegan in my opinion did well. Thier regular season was well, better at the end. In the playoffs they had a 12 seed, Waukegan upset a 5 and lost to Praire Ridge with small crowed on heavy snowed night 45 min. away from Waukegan in Cary Grove. There team lost Richmonds older brother who is 6-5 and not as good, he goes to CLC. Anyway they have a soph pg who is one of the top in this area Mike Springs. At sg they have a jr Colin Nickerson who was like anyone new to varsity and now has DII offers. At PF Steven Claiborne who needs more speed but can rebound. And a group of Seniors here are some that are quick athletic and have HEART. Carpenter, Melvin, Roman, Ricker. And on top of that we get a C-PF-SF-SG Jereme Richmond. The reports are true and he is coming so watch out for the Bulldogs downstate in 08.

O'Brien responds: Thanks for all the info on Waukegan. I didn't get a chance to see them play last season. They are usually competitive, so I figured there would be some nice pieces to make up a supporting cast for Richmond.

In order to play in college, minimal GPA's and ACT scires must be attained. Is there a reason why Jereme Richmond went to NS Country Day School and now is transferring out ? Poor academics ? Poor advice from AAU mavins ?

Also, how many times have superb athletes been on the same team withot having achieved much of their brag. A few years ago, Aurora West was loaded with at least five Div 1 candidates but with one ball to share,........

Im going to be attending Waukegan High School as of October 1 and i think that the team is going to be great! myself, rashaan melvin, jereme richmond, colin, mike springs, etc!

Waukegan will be very exciting to watch this year. I watched them last year and in the summer league. The way the team will be great will have to do with one thing:IF THEY COME TO PLAY AS A TEAM. There starting five will be great. SPRINGS,NICKERSON,MELVIN,RICHMOND,THOMAS. But they will need to put it together. Springs,Nickerson, and Richmond will be exciting to watch this year.
p.s Springs and Richmond will be great to watch for this year and two more.
