Jacob Pullen scores 27 to lead Proviso East over Hillcrest

Proviso East (5-1) jumped ahead 27-17 during a four-minute Hillcrest scoring drought in the second quarter.

The Hawks (5-1) cut the lead to six early in the second half. Proviso responded with a 10-2 run and Hillcrest never got closer than 13 after that.

Jamal Jones (20 points, nine rebounds) has developed into a consistent second option for Proviso East.

Nathan Fuqua added eight points and 10 rebounds for the Pirates. Junior guard Deangelo Vasquez helped Proviso East exploit the holes in Hillcrest’s 1-3-1 defense.

Justin Taylor led Hillcrest with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Elliot Jones added 11 points and four rebounds.

In Tuesday's other games, Homewood-Flossmoor beat Lockport and Young beat Hales.
