Despite being one of the top unsigned seniors in the state, T. F. North’s Demond Watt isn’t all that concerned with college right now — he’s thinking about Peoria.

Watts focus is clearing benefitting the No. 6 Meteors. Wednesday in Calumet City the 6-7 forward scored 23 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and blocked six shots as T. F. North beat Leo 71-60.

“I’m gonna worry about recruiting after the season, Watt said. “I’m focused on leading this team to the state title.

T. F. North (8-0) came out on fire and led 32-13 at the half. Lawrence Redmond, the Meteors’ outside threat, finished with 24 points and Donald Pritchard added 12. Junior Marcus Deloney, who is almost as impressive a leaper as Watt, scored 10.

Leo (6-4) was 12 for 12 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter, which helped make the score appear closer than the game actually was.

“We didn’t look as sharp in the second half and we missed our free throws, T. F. North coach Tim Bankston said.

Tony Topps led the Lions with 15 points. Stan Simpson, Leo’s 6-9 center, had 10 points, nine rebounds and four blocks. Kevin Woods added 13 points.
