Two local teams brought some impressive hardware back from Downstate this week.
Oak Park-River Forest won the William "Red" Schmitt Holiday Tournament at Granite City, beating runner-up Christian Brothers of Memphis 644-557.5. Minooka (539.5) was third and West Aurora (346.5) took 10th in the 24-team field.
Matthew Rundell (113 pounds), Devonte Mahomes (152) and Sam Brooks (182) won titles for Oak Park. West Aurora's Austin Beebe was the 285 champ.
Lane won the Lincoln Tournament 246-187 over Thornton with Joliet Central (164.5) finishing third. Max Schneider (152) was the Indians' lone champ, but Lane had six finalists.
