There was no wavering today by Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle when asked in a sit-down with Chicago Sun-Times about rumors that she may be interested in a run for governor.
Was she open to the idea of running for governor?
"No," she said plainly. "I'm going to run for reelection for the job I have."
When a reporter commented that her answer seemed like a definitive "no," Preckwinkle said: "I guess so."
Preckwinkle, whose office had conducted some internal polling earlier this year, had been rumored to have an interest in the governor's race in 2014.
