Romney tries to put out firestorm from leaked 47 percent video

Mitt Romney holds a news conference Monday night responding to the leaked entitlement video that's causing huge headaches for his campaign tonight.

"It's not elegantly stated, let me put it that way. I was speaking off
the cuff in response to a question. And I'm sure I could state it more
clearly in a more effective way than I did in a setting like that,"
Romney said Monday of the video that shows him saying that 47 percent of Americans essentially expect handouts. "Of course I want to help all Americans. All Americans have a bright and prosperous future."

Romney has clearly stated his views as a multimillionaire toward anyone who actually has to work for a living. With his true views exposed, now he has to pretend it's not really what he meant. This is sort of a combo plate of dissimulation and plain lie.

I completely agree - as a small business owner I get tired of working like crazy to pay for other people to have a free ride. I live in a very diverse part of the city - I see it all day long - people using their link cards like I use my bank debit card!

Mitt is saying the nation's deadbeats include everyone who gets a tax refund on their sole income source, wages.

How can that be? Because that 47% includes the millions and millions of workers who pay all year through with holding. They don't write a check on April 15. In Mitt speak, writing a check is paying income tax. Paying by with holding is just a payroll tax.

And that 47% also includes those who do not have significant investment imcome like dividends and interest since they are not writing tax checks each quarter like the big investors do.

It also includes the working poor, those who earn so little that there is no tax. That's millions more of people that don't count, says Mitt.

Simply stated, Obozo is an entitlement pimp...
how is this news?

The previous two comments are not necessarily mutally exclusive. We have an unacceptably high level of unemployment and many of those who do work do not earn a living wage. Many cannot support themselves, let alone a family. To the businessman, how would you provide for living wage jobs so that people can put down their LINK cards and stop being victims?

HANDOUTS!!!?? I worked for over 40 years before I was layed off my job. Now at 58 I'm too young for retirement and too old for the workforce in my field. What's gonna happen to that 47% if we let a financial bigot take the president's seat??????

For those of you thinking the 47% Mitt refers to are the Black folks, think again. There are more White people on welfare simply because there are more White people in the world. The 47% includes people Black, White, Hispanic who are working. Some pay no tax due to earned income limits with low wages. Most do pay taxes. I don't understand why he would call these people Obama entitlers. These are the same people who have been working all their lives under 12 years of Republican presidents. Were they entitlers then or is it just because Obama is Black? Mitt's comments are what they are. He is rich and he makes no bones about it. The current President might not be the best but he is the best President for the economy now because he is a President for everyone and not just the rich.
