Check: $40.00 for two, including tip. (Actually, I guess it's all tip, since the restaurant wouldn't give us a bill. I just left two twenties on the table, after guessing what the tab should have been.)

Best stuff that got left out of the article: Kristy recommends MAC makeup removal wipes and Origins gel cleanser for the next time you have green paint slathered on your face.

Restaurant: Lulu's Dim Sum and Then Some, 804 Davis St., Evanston

Entree: Wide rice noodles for him; Pad thai for me

Check: $25.34 for two, including tip.

Best stuff that got left out of the article: Byster lives in Skokie, where he grew up, with his wife and son. (He's been married 4,834 days, but who's counting?) He says it worries him that people expect 7 year old Joshua to be exactly him. And, Byster says, while Joshua did master the talking globe at age five and now can identify every country on the map, "he has no interest, no particular natural ability, in math." He also reports that whenever he tries to teach his wife about math, she ends up in tears.

Entree: Sauteed diver scallops over gnocchi for him; Crabcake BLT for me.

Check: $61.62 for two, including tip.

Best quote that got left out of the article: "I've never read a self-help book in my life. I don't consider what I do 'self help.' . . . It pisses me off that Random House put that label on What Should I Do With My Life? I'd like to make sure that the next thing I do is something no one could confuse with self help."

Note to Alexandra Jacobs: He's not really so chisel-cheekboned in person. I think he might have been doing that Zoolander thing in the picture.

Restaurant: Fonda del Mar

Entree: Lamb chops in mole negro, with garlic mashed potatoes. (We sampled pretty mch everything on the menu, but, this, along with a ceviche made from fresh marlin, was the greatest thing going.)

Check: a mystery, since Dolinsky just handed over his credit card and said "charge me something"

Best quote that got left out of the article: "She's [his daughter is] a very adventurous eater, but he's [his son is] more of a cheeseburger guy." There's some sort of cosmic justice in a foodie having to raise a kid with simpler tastes.
