You really shouldn't have.

You know how birthday parties for one-year-olds aren't really for the kids, but more an excuse for the parents to invite some friends over and show off?

Yeah, this is kinda like that. Prime 207L, the 2,500-pound Black Angus bull owned by David Burke's Primehouse, turns eight this year. To celebrate, the restaurant is...serving up a whole lotta beef. How thoughtful!

Once you get past the incongruence of tonight's celebration, you'll realize this is a pretty sweet deal. The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a "Meat and Greet" with chefs David Burke and Rick Gresh, featuring complimentary champagne cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Beginning at 7 p.m., guests can enjoy a four-course menu including choices of kobe beef sashimi, surf-and-turf dumplings and the "South Side" fillet, plus a variety of seasonal offerings like french onion soup ravioli and pan-roasted baby octopus. The event costs $55. Call (312) 660-6000 to reserve your spot.
