Tizi Melloul hosts S.O.B. wine dinner

If all you've tried at River North's Tizi Melloul are the $3 martinis and small plates on Mondays, well we can't blame you. That's an awesome deal. But if you've been curious about the rest of the menu at this Middle Eastern spot, next Wednesday, August 26, is a good time to try it out. For $60 a person, the restaurant is hosting a five-course meal paired with S.O.B. (Sustainable. Organic. Biodynamic.) wine.

Course 1: Chorizo-stuffed sea scallops with smoky saffron jus
Wine: Di Giovanna, Grillo, 2007 (Sicilia, Italy)

Course 2: Grilled peach salad with marcona almonds, candied fennel and goat cheeese
Wine: Domaine Vacheron, Sancerre Blanc, 2007 (Loire Valley, France)

Course 3: Pan-roasted wild striped bass, salad of pea shoots, concasse tomato, pickled fava beans, fried beets with Moscatel vinaigrette in a tomato garlic sauce
Wine: Mas de Gourgonnier, Rose, 2008 (Provence, France)

Course 4: Double lamb chop with sautéed greens and a cherry gastrique
Wine: Domaine de L'Oratoire Saint-Martin, Cotes De Rhone Rouge, 2007 (Rhone Valley, France)

Course 5: Raspberry tart covered in chocolate sauce
Wine: Mas Estrella "Quindals", Cataluna Emporda, 2005 (Costa Brava, Spain)

As an additional treat, there will be live belly dancing throughout the night!
