Here are some recent restaurant/bar openings and closings.

Hot Woks Cool Sushi

OPEN:
Hot Woks Cool Sushi – The Pulaski location of this popular sushi spot has been jumping since it opened last year, so here comes a Loop incarnation. Hey, when something works, you might as well double up. Too much of a good thing? We’ll see.

90 Miles Cuban – Ditto here; just sub “Cuban” for “sushi” and “Logan Square” for “Loop.”

Bucktown Soup Café – As much as we like soup (dig the bread bowls at Soupbox) and as good as some of these sound (chipotle chicken tortilla, pot roast & vegetables, spicy jumping bean & vegetables) we just cannot get on board with soup being an entire meal. It just seems so … not right.

Murasaki – Karaoke, anyone?

Fogo 2 Go – A Brazilian pizza place? We like it. We like it a lot.

OPENING (in the next week or so):
Cedar Hotel – Like Melvin B’s, only bigger (and hopefully a little cleaner).

The Rocking Horse – Beers as far as the eye can see (a dozen on tap and 50 more microbrew bottles) in Logan Square.

La Farine – West Town pastry shop will answer the age-old question: Do hipsters eat breakfast?

Five Guys Burgers & Fries – Location No. 4 opens in Rogers Park on July 6; location No. 5 opens on Clark & Fullerton two weeks later. But still a ways to go before they eclipse the Harold’s Chicken Shack count (how many are there now? 50? 60? Impressive.).

CLOSED (for now):
Rustik – This cozy Logan Square spot was supposed to be closed for Memorial Day weekend … then mid-June … now mid-July. This is never a good sign.

Mercat a la Planxa

Mercat a la Planxa – Another one closed until “mid-July.” We sure hope so.

CLOSED (for good):
Par Lounge – We’ll avoid the temptation to make a bad golf joke (about one too many bogeys or something) and just tell you that this Wicker Park bar apparently has failed to make the cut.

Check back here every Tuesday with more openings and closings. And be sure to check out Centerstage Chicago's list of new restaurants and bars.
