Beef Aid!

Despite its considerable financial struggles, Mr. Beef on Orleans announced this week that it would be staying open. But that doesn't mean the legendary River North joint is out of the woods just yet...something which fans of the quick-service spot appear to recognize, according to MenuPages.

Friday night's Beef Aid concert at Beat Kitchen (10:30 p.m.; $8), featuring local rockers SupraGenius, is just the latest in a series of ventures to save the stand. There's also a Save Mr. Beef! Facebook group, and a YouTube campaign (we missed today's 50 free beefs, unfortunately).

Who says people don't care about the important issues these days?

Now this is a sandwich worth fighting for.
