Viva la Sazerac! Drink and donate to New Orleans

Drink up to save New Orleans! We're loving this post about the Sazerac, a cocktail born in the early 1800s in New Orleans — America's first branded cocktail, traditionally made with Sazerac Rye Whiskey, Herbsaint Anis Liquor and Peychaud's Bitters.

Says URChicago:

"The Illinois distributor of Sazerac, Judge & Dolph, created Chicago Sazerac Month to assist in the recovery and renewal of New Orleans. Beginning on Fat Tuesday — February 24th, 2009 — at participating restaurants and bars, all proceeds from 'The Sazerac' will be donated to help re-build The Museum of the American Cocktail in New Orleans and support the Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans. Act fast — the drink-to-donate deal ends on March 31st, 2009."

Where in Chiago can you drink to donate? Particpating bars are the Drawing Room, Sepia, the Violet Hour and the Whistler.
