Morse Theatre code: S.O.S.

The Morse Theatre, which opened last fall on the Far North Side to great acclaim, was just about to hit its stride ... but now has announced it's closing after a March 7 show by Paris Delane. (Duncan Sheik is there March 6.)

Time Out confirms the rumors and acknowledged that the future of the restaurant in the space, the Century Public House, is up in the air.

The long-defunct Morse reopened in October as a resplendent music hall, restaurant and broadcast studio. Jazz drummer Winard Harper christened the 299-seat performance space, followed by a weekend stint by the Taj Mahal Trio. The place has a fantastic sound system and became the home of several regular classical and jazz performances aired on WFMT.
