1. Eating a hearty Italian dinner at Pasta Bowl on Clark, then not even having to go outside to get to the Other Side, a rather raucous bar connected to the restaurant.

2. Knowing that the crust at Pequod's Pizza isn't burnt — it's caramelized, and that's what makes the pie one of the best deep-dish in the city.

3. The pond just south of Fullerton near the lake that you would swear was a nature preserve in the middle of the country and not 100 yards from Lake Shore Drive.
