Oprah Winfrey won't be throwing Barack Obama an inauguration bash

Despite initial reports, Oprah Winfrey won't be hosting an inaugural bash for Barack Obama when he takes office later this month.

A Harpo source confirmed to me Wednesday that Winfrey won't be sponsoring a bash when she takes her show on the road for the inauguration later this month.

"Everybody's calling me about a party. I'm like, 'Isn't somebody else having a party?'...I don't know about the party thing yet...There is extreme party confusion. I'm trying to get to the bottom of it myself!" Winfrey said in an interview last month.

Rumors began to circulate last month when event planners allegedly working for Winfrey apparently were combing D.C. to find a site for a big inauguration bash.

It would make sense for Oprah to have a party for President Elect Obama considering how strongly she supported him and how connected she is to many influential people, who I am sure would love to connect with the new President.

I will give a party!!! I have a round table and 8 chairs, and a piano bench which seats two adults or three children. I will make North Beach Beef Stew in my crockpot. Have a big iron skillet of crackling corn bread. With this, I serve Fetzer's Gewurstraminer and some sort of good Merlot, if there are whiners about white with beef!!! ( These both are 7.99 a bottle at Safeway) WHAT???? That doesn't sound good?? Then we can all play my piano and sing. We can watch Miracle at Morgan Creek on the moving pictures. You DO like Betty Hutton and Eddie Bracken???? Bye bye. Love, Granny
